That is not a reasonable bussiness decision, when they released a game at the same time as on the other consoles, said title only sold 5% of what the others did, what reason did they had to keep working on the Wii U version and sacrifice more than 90% of the sales just to satisfy an audience that has proven them time and again that they really don't care. You say now that the game will sell only 100k, but if the release was simultaneous it would have sold maybe 200k tops, and as a bussiness man, there is no logic behind getting 100k more sales by sacrificing millions in May.

Without the help of the splitted team the other versions would not have been ready by May, and there is a reason why all the consoles get a drought on summer, people buy less games and consoles, all publishers know and try to place their releases before it (en of may start of June) or after it (september), it is even worse to delay all the versions to a summer release.

You're saying they could have sold 100k more for no additional expense, but doing so would be a BAD business decision?  I can't take you seriously, that just makes no sense. And I didn't say a simultaneous release, you obviously didn't read my posts. I said a summer release, well after Mario Kart, during the Wii U game drought. It would have sold near PS3/360 version sales.

They did not "waited this long", the production was halted for 5 full months for the Wii U edition, from January till May 2014, when the team returned they had to pick up again and it took 5 months, and maybe they used 2 o 3 more weeks for the Gamepad integration. The timing is not good, I agree but there was nothing more they could do.

They could have not halted production, that's what more they could have done. The extra time for Gamepad integration would have landed the Wii U version away from Mario Kart but squarely in the big Wii U game drought following Mario Kart. It would have been perfect, and the version would have sales comparable to last gen versions of the game. Now it's going to be horrific. The Wii U version will have under 100k sales first week, and Ubisoft will blame the fanbase for their own screwups, and never release another mature game on Wii U ever again. It's all their fault.

Or perhaps its your fault for choosing only Nintendo published games for the rest of 2014, even Hyrule Warriors, even though its likely to be as bad as Dynasty Warriors.

Yes, lets blame the consumer for a company delaying it's product.  It's also the consumers that are at fault for not wanting to buy said product (which most people have found to be mediocre anyways).

Only in this industry.....

I think you are failing to grasp the concept, they SPLITTED the development team for 5 months to make the other versions to reach on TIME and take advantage of the hype, the cost of those extra 100k units would had been HUGE as the others versions would not have arrived on May, meaning a lot of money would had been lost.

And you are ignoring previous evidence if you think the sales of arriving on time would have been even 50% of those on PS3/360, the install base simply is not there, the audience is also not there, you want a fair comparison, look at the sales of Batman: Arkham Origins, or Assassin's Creed IV to have an idea, the first one got 10% of the sales of the 360 version and even less than 10% for the PS3, for the second one the situation was even worse. Lets be VERY optimistic and say it would reach 15% of the 360 or PS3 edition Combined, that would only mean 300k units.

They don't guess, they look at previous numbers and they make sound bussiness decisions, and I have to admit (even if I don't like it), they made the right one.

Watch Dog PS4 and PC pre owned has just been reduced to £14.99 in UK!

YES I am sure thousands of people will run to buy a full price WiiU version!

If they blame us once more I will stop buying any Ubisoft products! and I will wish them to go bankrupt!

You don't have to worry too much about this part, unless you are a huge fan of Just Dance, there should not be anything else, at least for the Wii U.

So if they hadn't delayed development, the game would have arrived after Mario Kart altogether, and had no competition? Even better! What the fuck were they thinking?! And you're missing that the install base is bigger than XBO, so there's no reason it couldn't have gotten decent sales. Batman and Assassin's Creed are games that came in well into the series, while Watch Dogs is a new IP. It's the reason everyone is happy that Bayonetta 2 comes with the original. If it didn't, Bayo 2 wouldn't stand a chance. If you don't like the business decision as the consumer, then you should know they made a bad one, because it's the consumer they're trying to please.

Things are starting to get a little sour here, so let's all take a step back, calm down and get back to the topic on hand.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

The game would have come after MK8, but at the cost of the PS3, Xbox 360, PS4 and Xbox One editions that sold Millions coming during the period of time were gamers buy the less games out of the full year, that is a cost too high to pay.

The install base of the Wii U may be higher but those customer only buy and play exclusive titles, ask around and you will see that many people bought it just to play the Mario, Zelda and Smash game, not to get 3rd party games. When there is an overlap in user base, they will buy the version of the other console, not the one on Wii U.

New IP or old IP, the difference is not going to be double or triple, as I said even if you are very optimistic, anything above 400k would be nothing short of a miracle, just look at Rayman Legends 360k and it is undoutbly the best edition, with extra content and exclusive features.

About that "pleasing the customer", you are mistaken... They are not trying to please EVERY customer, just the ones that produce the most revenue, they are trying to please the shareholders like any other company, if they can do that only catering to the Sony and Microsoft customers they will do it like that, as it is happening now. I am a "Nintendo" customer, so I am not happy with their decision, but if you think about it with a cold head, you will realize that is the correct one and I cannot blame them for taking it, if I was running the company I would have done the same.

The issue at hand is that this 3rd party is treating us like 2nd class citizens. I have no problem supporting a 3rd party who releases a game the same time as other platforms with the same feature set, but when they delay only our console and do a half way attempt at porting the game, why should we support that crap? NOTE: Watch_Dogs could be really good on Wii U, especially if they aren't bsing about focusing on making the gamepad experience really unique, but with it coming so late, they shot themselves in the foot.
