Well, to be honest that's mostly because monitors don't have good scaling chips. Graphics cards usually do the scaling and in case of the consoles the X1 obviously scales the picture it renders at 720p or 900p to 1080p before sending it to the screen.

Ofcourse even with good scaling a native 720p picture will still look a bit more blurry and detail in the background isn't that clear, it is noticeable.

Should've stopped reading there. The whole Kinect stuff seems to be almost out of the door for MS and gaming wise I can't remember one new experience it has brought us until now on X1.

Because it costs about the same to produce an Xbox One as it does to produce a PS4.  Sure GDDR5 is more expensive than DDR3, but the weak GPU + 32MB of ESRAM is the same if not more exspensive to produce than the PS4's stronger GPU.  So yeah the Xbox One should cost $300, but it won't be because it is cheaper to make...

You talk as if people were somehow forced to buy ps4s and there was something inherently wrong with this choice... Like you are being people to get the xb1 for some unclear emotional reason.

By the way seeing the difference between 720p and 1080p is not a feat of extreme vision, nor is it that hard to spot lower quality image when both are 1080p... It's even worse for frame rate

Even my mums can tell the difference, its like watch dvd then blu-ray... on a 55" you see. if you have a 4/3 i can understand you don't see the difference.

Oh boy. Gonna ignore the lies(or horrific generalizations) in the OP.

The graphics really don't matter at all to sell consoles. The PS4 isn't selling better because it has a few more pixels on the screen. It sells better because every media outlet says that it's better. Doesn't even matter in which regard. People get what gets recommended to them. If there are only 2 choices and from 90% of people you hear just about one of the choices you will go for that choice.
