It's not spin, it's context. You're not looking at the reasons for the difference in decline. The reason is not that PS3 owners are migrating faster, it's simply that PS3 got a huge game last year while 360 didn't.

its not.

as i said:

without tlofu, ps3 would have less momentum, less hardware sales for 2013 and a lower installbase

that would result in less overall software sales 2014

u just cut out the bad thing tlof u is doing for ur arguing.

but still keep the good thing it does.

thats not how it work...

Lol oh really now. TLoU didn't boost PS3 significantly enough for there to be any meaningful difference. PS3 has a userbase of almost 6m in the UK and TLoU boosted ps3 by maybe 200k at most in total (and that's being optimistic, since the game sold between 400-500k). Not significant.

I'd say only 2 of those were, Uncharted and GT. But even then 'significant' is subjective. For some fans, their big games have been released already (Killzone and InFamous, 2 significant 1st party games).

Eh, Killzone and inFamous are both 2-3m sellers. The Last of Us is essentially a 10m seller so I'm surprised you mention Uncharted but not TLoU. Mainline GoW games sell 4m+ each. KZ and infamous are definitely less significant than those.

It's weird that different people keep replying. My original intention was to get Carl to tell me what he see's as significant for Sony as at this time 3 major first party games have been released even if they aren't the 'big ones'. Sure the TLoU sold a lot but it's a new franchise and might not even get another game, we don't know. Sure those 2 are less significant but for some people they are the games that are making the difference between the PS4 and the X-PS4 (as it no longer has a Kinect... get it? ). Yet on the other side of things, Nintendo in it's first year only really had New Super Mario Bros U really as first party in the first year and MS only Forza 5.

I'm getting tired on this website of people bashing different consoles for the lack of games or first party games when all consoles have a very good line up of differing games.

Hmm, pie.

Well NSMB is a huge franchise (or was, at least). The Wii game sold 30m+ iirc.

But of course, XB1's lineup isn't good really, but it's not the point of the discussion anyway.

this is july.

what now?

btw. if we still spinning right now

ps3 got his reatil release of minecraft in 2014

we should cut it out form h1 2014 numbers, because the x360 one was back in 2013

It's just a fact more. Xbox 360 took 60 weeks for the millon. But now look:
Actual sales UK :

PS3 5,932,132
X360 8,903,622
I do not understand the joy that xbox is selling less.

TLoU had great legs.

The 3:2 ratio is really what should be expected for software sales since that's their hardware sales ratio. Last year PS3 was selling more software compared to its install base.

Great. I'm more impressed that the PS3 only took 6 weeks more to reach 1m.

PS3 had a great launch and it was a beast in Europe.

It is not easy to sell the same than competition with 1 year less in US and 1,5 year less in EU.

Yeah very impressive, especially considering the price!

No MS or Sony game can compare to the true Mario games.

I know and wasn't trying to go off on one, just found Carl's comment weird ("...to hit that milestone so quickly with no significant 1st party offerings...", I mean I could happily say I find it surprising that Xbox has sold more than 500 because it doesn't have Halo or Gears and it's just as redundent as a comment).

360 had slowest start than PS3 but after 2009/2010 it start to sell way better than PS3 in UK... and to be fair the difference is not that big because 360 had 18 months more time in the market than PS3.

So the real comparision in this case can be:

PS3 5,932,132 (today)
360 8,313,484 (18 months ago)

The difference in sales for the same period is ~2.3 million... that is how 360 sold way better than PS3 in UK.

360 sales was that strong in US and UK... the issues were everything else.
