Second off, anything that incorporates random elements by design is by definition not a sport, so quite a few games played as eSports would fall to this

The weather is a random element (and creationists would argue even by design)... so most outdoor sports aren't sports? ;)

In most cases the weather would be the same for all contestants ;p

Dont they show like Poker on espn? How is that a sport using the same logic?

it's not a sport right now but it will be in a few years when more people watch that over traditional sports

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

from the same people who believe they are sportif by watching sport on TV.

come on.

If Chest, golf and Bridge are sport - you know damn rigth they are not Neutral on the subject.

How can you compare chess and bridge to golf? Golf is undoubtedly a sport.

hobby at best.

'' However, a number of competitive, but non-physical, activities claim recognition as mind sportsThe International Olympic Committee (through ARISF) recognises both chess and bridge as bona fide sports, and SportAccord, the international sports federation association, recognises five non-physical sports, although limits the amount of mind games which can be admitted as sports. ''

Mind sports, is used since 1996 to describe sport focus 90 % on the mind.

But imagine IF Chest club and bridge a reconised as sports Jok everywhere will flip table Saying Think of the children. (and Now Game ?!? who will  they bully?? )

People just need to stop being mind stuck and change there view Pretty much, the same way God changed his mind about black people 1978.(In a June 1978 letter, the first presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints proclaimed that “all worthy male members of the Church may be ordained to the priesthood without regard for race or color. Something, heretic before.) <- just to be clear its something funny that really happen.

Great job giving an argument for why golf isn't a sport. I'll make a real argument for why it is. Let's look at the definition of a sport.

Sport: an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.

Okay. Let's break it down. Is golf an activity? Most certainly.

Does golf require physical exertion? Of course. The club head on a golf club travels in excess of 100 mph. Last time I checked, you can't just stand still and move something 100 mph with your mind.

Does it require skill. Absolutely. Golf is an incredibly difficult sport that makes even some of the greatest athletes look like idiots. If you don't think it's a hard sport, then you have never played. It requires a precision unlike anything else.

Do individuals compete? Yep. There are golf tournaments all the time for all different skill levels.

Is it entertaining? Well, considering millions of people watch professional golf tournaments on television and thousands attend, I would say that, yes, it is.

There you have it. Golf fits every single part of the definition. So by definition, golf is a sport.

Any counterargument? I don't think there is one...

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

Well John Skipper can go fuck himself.

Anyone that doesn't think it's a sport has a too narrow-minded view of sports. The United States government has ruled that it's a sport, that's good enough for me. Sports are competitive games, that's all they are. The world of the future considers eSports a sport, people with John Skipper's attitude will eventually all die out.

No disagreement.

Yeah, they're not sports. That's why they call them e-sports and not sports.

It really isn't. Keep it as eSports.
