Now I started a thread how it's a remake and not a remaster because it is, and I defended it as such, but this topic is wrong.

If you count a remaster as a remake, which it isn't, then sure, the topic is correct.  But Halo 2 is the exact same game with "atleast" a graphics overall, the very definition of a remake.

There are games that are more than just simple remakes, and those are games that go beyond a graphical update.  Games that include the graphical update but include new content, new gameplay mechanics, new storyline, new scenarios, etc.

X-COM Enemy Unknown is more than just a simple remake.  It's the same game, but more than just better graphics, the base mechanics have become more streamlined, battle now revolves around more strategy, etc.

Brigandine Grand Edition is more than just a simple remake.  The storyline is the same, although it now includes cutscenes t hroughout the game, animations have been changed from separate 3D animated sequences(if left on) to 2D sequences that occur on the field of battle, elements have a rock/paper/scissors effect to them rather  than opposite elements taking off more damage to one another(which also worked fine.)  The games main enemy in the storyline of the first game actually wasn't in the game as a final boss.  He is in Grand Edition.  They included a multiplayer mode with up to six players where any of the six countries can be played, the rest AI controlled, and several different years to choose from with less countries owning the continent.

Mega Man Powered Up and Mega Man Maverick Hunter X are more than simple remakes.  Powered Up has an old style that has the same stages but isn't exactly like the original.  The new style includes two new bosses, Oil Man and Time Man, every stage is completely redone, multiple difficulties, play as the bosses in any stage, and create your own stages.  Mega Man Maverick Hunter X has the same original game world, but enemy layout is different.  You also get to play as Vile, who plays completely different from Mega Man.

Duck Tales Remastered is more than just a simple remake.  There's a couple brand new stages, there's a completely new storyline that reuses all the same voice actors, some stages are quite a bit different, bosses are fought differently, and then the graphics.

So Halo 2 is just a simple remake.  Is it the best looking remake of all time?  Currently, yeah, and by far.  Are the graphics the most substantial difference from this one to the original?  Nope, many games have a bigger jump in graphics from their predecessors than Halo 2 does.  I'd say the biggest goes to X-COM Enemy Unknown.

The newest XCom (one of your exemple) is just a different game, plain and simple (gameplay, mechanisms, etc...) but it is far from being a remake/remastered version... What the OP is saying is that Halo 2 is more than a simple remake if we look at the other remake/remastered version out there; which is just true. He is not saying it is a new game (like new XCom is compared to the old one)

Also the OP is talking about the whole MMC and not only Halo 2.

Halo 2 is the only remake, and it's a simple remake.  It's a graphical update and nothing more.

It's more than a remaster, but it's not an enhanced remake like Final Fantasy 4 Complete Collection with extra dungeons, characters, and it's certainly not a full remake like Wild ARMs Alter Code F, Tactics Ogre Let Us Cling Together, X-COM, etc, where there's the exact same progression, but things that make it feel like you're playing what's mostly a brand new game.

It's not a remaster.  It'd be nothing more than the original textures updated to 1080p resolution much like games DMC Collection, Ico/SotC, Jak and Daxter Trilogy, etc were brought to 720p, or The Last of Us brought to 1080p.

Both fanbases are wrong.  One side is saying that it's more than what it actually is, the other side is downplaying it saying that it's the same game upgraded to 1080p.

They've certainly done a great job with the MCC from what  I've seen!

If only this game on PC.

Sadly for you, you'll have to buy a Xbox One if you want to play the awesome MCC!

This is going to be the greatest remake ever, the amount of work they have put into this is astounding. And the haven't only built up the graphics in H2 from the ground up, the music and sound effects are completely new as well, and changes with the touch of a button.

I have almost 20 games already on my X1, but nothing comes close to this.

Only thing I reacted to in the video was the look of Cortana. I think they made her perfect in Halo 4.

Well i consider remakes to be an original game to be remade starting from scratch, not using the original game and adding to it, i consider that remastering. But it's hard to choose between remaster or remake when it comes to Halo 2 as it looks significantly different to the original but it is the same game being enhanced by upgrading the visual's and sound etc. But i think we should give a new name for games like Halo 2 in the future and that should be 'remakester'. :D

But all the cutscenes have been completely remade.

Well, technicly its a remake of Halo 2 and multiplayer and an upresed port of the others. So, it always was more than one remake. ^^
