30K is well below the second largest world economy can do. I would expect MS to sell through the 5 millions allowed within the first year.

That's not happening, 5 million will last them the entire gen.

I really dont think japan will stay lacking as it is now. Its just that handhelds have a lot more time on the market and have all the games the japs are interested in. But as soon as they start coming to the ps4/wiiu they sales will go up acordinly, then they will be #2 again. |
not sure.
wii u is 2 yeas old and still week
we dont know, how ps4 will do. could be really bad, could be decent, could be great
xb1 will do low numbers for sure
dont see japan > uk this gen
not even if the ps4 will do gangbusters

I just really hope that down the line that stupid restriction goes away. It would be nice if we could try out all those chinse games here in the west and they could try all of ours. That would definetly increase the gaming market all around the world. |
Restrictions? Chinese games are region locked?
Not bad. Hopefully we get some good tracking out of China
Interesting.
I think this is an important market to MS, and one they could possibly win, maybe.
They have the advantage of launching first, and its not like most chineese people will be jumping to buy a Japaneese product like the Wii or PS4....
I'm not a cultural expert at all, but I believe that China does not really like Japan all that much, especially since Japan slaughtered many Chineese people in WWII.
Not really sure if this would impact sales any, but it might. Also Microsoft has the reputation advantage as they make Windows, and China has a lot of people with PCs, so for better or worse, they should be quite familiar with Microsoft and thier products.

Well I asumed since our games will be restricted there, they would make games that appeal to them like mmo's and mobas and not even bother to releas in the west.
It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.
It's pretty hard to say if 30k is good or not since we know very little about China. Remember when there was a lot of buzz of the Xbox One charting very high in Amazon Japan when preorders began? (Example: http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/06/21/xbox-one-manages-to-top-amazon-japan-best-seller-chart-on-its-pre-order-debut/ ) When it finally launched in Japan, we saw many major retailers being nearly empty.
Also, according to the Games in Asia poll, 6x as many Chinese gamers preferred the PS4 (http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Chinese-Gaming-Poll-Shows-PS4-With-57-Vote-Xbox-One-With-11-66406.html ). The sample is actually pretty decent at 6665 people, especially when most online polls tend to have less than 1000 sample sizes. Also, this poll was running for weeks, so the X1 had plenty of time to catch up, but it never did.
That's pretty huge

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.
