Its up to the costumer if there a place for a Nintendo console or not.

Let me put it in a way you guys can understand. Sony is losing money (close to being bankrupt) Nintendo is losing money (they pretty much have no other source of income other than gaming) Microsoft makes a record breaking profit. You have to make money to stay in business and the way Sony and Nintendo are going they won't be here for long. Something has to change.

I for one rarely take anything Patcher says seriously. He's been wrong before on pretty big things and it's quite clear he feeds on the anger his comments cause, haha.
The port begging is something I always find funny. I don't think I've ever seen anyone saying "I hope Nintendo fails and we never see any of their games again." It's always, "I hope Nintendo fails so that they'll put their games on my console of choice." or some variation of that. The thing is, these people are usually the ones also complaining about nintendo being "kiddie stuff" and claiming they've "outgrown" Nintendo games, whatever the hell that means.
So yeah, a lot of it just seems to be about maintaining this "grown up gamer" image. After all, it would be much less embarrassing in their eyes, it seems, if they're caught playing the newest Mario or Zelda on their X1/PS4 than on the console for kids. ::rollseyes::
As far as I'm concerned, I hope Nintendo's always around as both a hardware AND a software manufacturer. They've given me so much joy throughout my life that I could never wish them failure, despite some of their recent decisions being f***ing dumb.
Probably this analogy does not go all the way but I try anyway.
Sony = Toyota, makes affordable cars that are known and popular for their quality. Motorcycles are not that popular.
MS = GMC, makes trucks for americans - big - heavy - gas guzzling. No motorcycles.
Nintendo = Honda, makes affordable motorcycles that are known and popular for their quality. Cars are not that popular.
PC = Porsche, makes cars with top notch parts - speed and quality. To small and expensive for most people.
I wanted to add Chinese manufacturers that would love to sell in the west, and also could not find a good analogy for Apple, Samsung, Amazon and others that want to get into the market.

Ok but that has little to do with what you've said. Regulations and labels are a result of what that definition is talking about. That definition does not go against healthy competition (multiple consoles). Also, no one is being forced, nor does secondary consoles decrease consumer confidence. |
It's not a healthy competition because Nintendo's value proposition is extremely weak. You're forced to buy an inferior console compared to the competition for the sole purpose of buying Nintendo-backed exclusives.
I liken this to Sony making its movies exclusive to the blu-ray devices they also produce. It makes no sense and is not particularly advantageous for the consumer.

But.. you're also paying less money for the inferior hardware. Wouldn't that criticism only work if you also had to pay $400-500 for a Wii U?

It's your life too, you're merrily wasting your time on Pachter threads!
Behold the powah of teh Analyst God, he can bend the will of his haters! They can't live without him!
Pachter said this because he didn't want to troll too hard. He really thinks that the place for Nintendo hardware is in the trash.

Nooo, actually Pachter would like to play Ninty games on other consoles just because Wii and Wii U clash with his so elegantly styled and furnished house!
