Plus, wouldn't it be possible to run SFIV in 720p on the wii? I mean, just prerender the backgrounds and then it'll be fine(cause fighting games usually don't have high technical specifications) cause the wii can do the characters fine in 720p.

Is the Wii capable of 720p? I Googled it and only found references to a mistake in a magazine and an April fools post.

Yes, but some stuff would have to be simplified to aallow Wii games to run in 720p.

"Hell, the reason why they decided to move MH3 to the Wii was not because they thought it would bring more sales but because a PS3 version was too expensive."

You've gotta be kidding me. You think it' just that? Sure it's expensive, but you don't think they took sales in account? In Japan, the PS3 only has 1.96 mil sales while the Wii has 5.43 mil. That's a big difference, no? And where does MH sell best in? Japan. That's also why games like Fatal Frame has moved to the Wii and most likely Suikoden as well. And then we have DQ on the DS because of that reason as well.

"Due to high development cost of titles for PS3, we have decided to switch the platform to which we release our Monster Hunster 3 title," Capcom managing corporate officer Katsuhiko Ichii said.

I have facts to back up my statement. You have an assumption. Lest we forget, MH was a Playstation franchise. They released Monster Hunter Freedom 2 in early February 2007 on the PSP. Now, what was the userbase of the PSP at that time? Yet it became the best selling PSP game in Japan. I doubt they were worried about MH3 flopping on the PS3 but the cost didn't justify it.

Can you link me to a game that has the Wii in 720p?

@ LordoftheKnight

You're not seriously suggesting that DMC4 be played on the Classic Controller... Then what's the whole point of owning the Wii if you're going to use a "traditional" controller, other than you just wanting it on your system? If it was going to be ported to the Wii, it would need to be Wii-ized in controls, not tacked onto the classic controller.

Invalid. Nintendo themselves stated that the Wiimote would not be best for every game. So it's just people who don't want the Wii to get games who insist the Wiimote be applied to games not suitable for it, just so they can claim "what's the point?" when people bring up the Classic Controller.

What was the point of putting it on the 360? It's virtually the same game as the PS3 version, so why bother? How about getting a bigger audience? The same reason a Wii version might happen (not that it will, but that it might).

Yes, the 360 version was just from the PC code, which has a similar architecture, but the point of the classic controller would be reducing the cost of adjusting the controls, so the developers could focus on the graphics (not to match the leve, but the art direction).

THAT would be the point.

NOW I AM NOT ARGUING THE GAME WILL COME TO THE WII. I'm arguing that there is no reason the game wouldn't work on the Wii, if Capcom tried. It's their choice to try, but you're trying to pretend they can't even try.

Although sales might have been a factor, just in in the sense that the home versions sold less than the portable versions, so that a couple hundred thousand on the Wii would mean more profit than on the PS3. If the games had gone platinum on the PS2, they might not have been worried about the cost.

So you're right that it was more profit than higher sales, since the higher sales were on another system.

I disagree it's invalid. If a game like DMC4 doesn't take the one advantage the wii has (wii-mote) over ps360 then the reviewers will noted that the wii version is inferior, thus would reccommend a different version. Just look at what happen to PS3 "Orange Box" reviews even though I find my load time wasn't as long as those shown in the video. (maybe slower but not that slow)

that didn't stopped Orange Box from gracing the PS3? How about RE4 for the PS2? An inferior version isn't really an excuse as long as it'll sell.

That's because it doesn't requir as much work porting to ps3 ( it has close the same spec and ram of the 360) than Wii and ps2.

your point was about reviewers complaining about inferior versions. Publishers don't really care about that if they know it'll sell anyways.

First of all, reviews don't always decide which sells best. Reviews of the PS2 version of RE4 either stated both versions work, or that the GC version had the slight edge. The PS2 version still sold 800k more copies.

Second of all, if a Wii version was made (repeat if), it would likely have more content added. Capcom did this for RE4 on the PS2, included that in the Wii version (since the GC didn't get that content), the PS3 version of Lost Plenet (all DLC content on the disc and for free), and I believe the portable versions of Monster Hunter.

This is because they know that the extra content would attract an audience that would otherwise not care if the port was otherwise the same.

Third of all, the Orange Box on the PS3 had framerate and loading issues, not simply reduced graphics. The game wasn't fully optimized for the system. If the same happened to a Wii game, it would be the fault of the development team, not the Wii's hardware.

DMC4 - Yes

GT5 - No

There was a less of a gap between GC vs PS2 than Wii vs ps3/360 so now we are in a different ball game. Wii hardware is closer to PS2/xbox/GC than 360/ps3 especially when it comes to ram.

So if they plan to do a wii then might as well do a PS2 while they are at it with a much large owner base.
