that didn't stopped Orange Box from gracing the PS3? How about RE4 for the PS2? An inferior version isn't really an excuse as long as it'll sell.

That's because it doesn't requir as much work porting to ps3 ( it has close the same spec and ram of the 360) than Wii and ps2.

 your point was about reviewers complaining about inferior versions. Publishers don't really care about that if they know it'll sell anyways.
