Laugh at that prediction as much as you want, but in reality they are only 995.000.000 away from the goal.

On what basis? In a straight conversion from Japanese price to UK price the X1 is about £240, it's even cheaper then the Wii U in the west, the Japanese price for the Wii U premium in Japan was about 240 before the price cut (I think it's around 200 now).

If Japan was a higher priority then other tier 2 countries what are the sales in the latter going to be like?

Mine is a tier 2 country, total units for the country 1.000, not sold out yet (price is too high compared to importing) and there was a problem with the distribution in 2 big stores (around 200 units misplaced, but coming soon).
