Forums - Microsoft - Time : Xbox One to Launch in 29 New Markets: Why It Matters

Nice that Time is reporting on this, but they apparently didn't do any homework on the subject. If they DID, they would know that these countries represented 10% or less of the total sales of the Xbox 360. They can hope all they want, but these countries are not going to change the trajectory of their sales.

Nice to see video games in major magazine. Hey, I can eat butter too!

it still matters

or why do u think all other companys realse theire products in small markets, too? ;)

Damn if that's any representation of what the gamers feel in China, they Xbox One won't be a huge success there. I certainly hope it will though. If it does, then there's a chance that the PS4 will be a success to with the compelling software coming.

The good thing about Xbox releasing in more markets is that we can finally cross it off the list. Price was a bigger factor, almost 90% of the reason the PS4 was outselling the Xbox :), so if that didn't really make a dent. New region's surely wont.

However, trying to make the brand international is commendable, and this whole western focus thing might seem like a good idea right now, but is stupid if Microsoft wants to continue with the Xbox brand in the industry.

I still believe that releasing the X1 officially in those Tier 2 countries won't really matter that much... :S

It won't matter much, but if the Xbox One is successful...we might see it become a ww brand like PlayStation. Or is that wishful thinking?

I wonder if Chinese will be lining up for the midnight launch? But it sure is discouraging when 60% of people straight out say they don't want your product...

Yep of course they will matter but by now all those people who wanted an Xbox already purchased a ps4 by now. Sony has had that advantage and will continue. Xbox will be out on 41 markets but ps4 is out on 72......still out on more. Before someone says "but but you can buy an Xbox all over EU already" you might be able too but you gotta pay to import it and you cannot access Xbox live outside of those 13 markets. Why would someone buy a console that can't access online? A console that is pretty much made to be online just like the ps4. It doesn't make any sense if you buy one and can't be online....the console needs a day one update in order to work.

There isn't a lot of room at the top.
