In my area (Northeast USA), the XB1 Madden Bundle is at 17th, and the Stand alone XB1 is at 81st, PS4 stand alone 7th, Destiny Bundle 8th.  For software the XB1 version is 10th, PS4 version is 11th.

Its a shame NPD numbers dont include Amazon, or any other online retailer....

Amazon.com will be USA as a whole, not done on area.

Yeah, NPD only counts physical "brick and mortar" retail sales.

(Still only half finished reading this thread)

I'm seeing a million comments talking about some ms fans being silly with their insults and stuff, which is true. They're pretty dumb. But virtually no-one is talking about how dumb thinking "the site is purposely lowering PS4 numbers because console wars" is.

Honestly? Leave that conspiracy theory crap for denying man going on the moon or the world ending in 2000/2011/2012/whenever that comet is supposed to hit.

umm..if that is true..then that explains the missing PS4 sales numbers on this site because the PS4 has been holding the #5 spot on amazon since May and the Density bundle hasnt gone below the tenth spot since the preorder became available.

Littlebig planet 3 and Driveclub? Lol That gave me a good laugh.

Bloodborne a niche title that won't sell much and is like the Souls games? Boring.

The Order? Cinematic QTE with no story co-op or even multiplayer? No replayability. Basically a very poor man's Gears of War.

Uncharted 4? Can't even touch Halo 5 lol

The fact that you invariably used Gears and Halo to talk up the Xbox One does highlight a substantial weakness that Microsoft brought on themselves. While they might improve later this generation, (we're still in the 'honeymoon' phase of the generation, meaning that it will be some time before we see if the number of released exclusives remains consistent,) for the last few years, they've been extremely limited when it comes to bringing new IPs, (Unless you want to count Kinect-only, there was a metric buttload of those,) as their exclusive offerings soon became dominated by Halo, (a shooter,) Gears of War (another shooter,) Forza (a racing game,) and Fable (an EXTREMELY simple and widely accessible fantasy game.) Technically, I'm only counting Fable because there was a Remastered of the original; a new Fable game hadn't been seen since Fable 3, which released shortly before the first Kinect came out, around 2010. So for Microsoft-developed titles that didn't need a Kinect, pretty much just been Halo, Gears and Forza. For four years.

The Xbox One is improving this a little, but some of their most interesting titles, breaking the mold wise, also seem to be their least focused-upon titles, like Project Spark, with all the love during the early period having been given to Titanfall, yet another first-person shooter that wasn't even 8th generation exclusive. Heck, Sunset Overdrive is, at least in terms of style, a VERY distinctive and colorful game, but Gamescom's conference decided to show gameplay from Quantum Break, which is just... graphically nice, sure, but not exactly thinking outside the box. o.O This despite the fact that SO is coming out in October, and Quantum Break doesn't seem likely to hit before mid-2015.

Sure, some of the PS4's lineup, like Little Big Planet, Tearaway, etc, etc, are going to hit relatively niche markets, and likely never achieve the sales domination of dat Halo or Gears, but Sony's advantage has been that it simply appeals to a lot MORE markets than Microsoft. Not just regional, but in terms of personal gaming tastes.

The PS3 was simply a well-rounded console, with a varied and expansive library that didn't ALL appeal to EVERYONE, but largely had SOMETHING for everyone. It was not a 'shooter box' by any stretch of the imagination, really defied description as its titles ranged from shooters to adventure games to crafting puzzle games, etc, etc, and the Gamescom conference made it clear that this is going to continue, which is fantastic.

The Xbox 360 fell into a rut of the same franchises, over and over, and in the case of the Xbox One, the Gamescom conference showed very little NEW stuff, which only reinforces the concern that their focus is going to be very limited this generation as well.

It ties into that point I made earlier. Microsoft stopped 'Bringing Da Games' last generation, and it built them a reputation that they're unlikely to be able to disprove for a couple of years, even if they try consistently. Purchasing a console is always a long-term investment, and as far as the long-term goes, Sony's simply made a better case for themselves as a dependable source of varied entertainment. If the Xbox One starts to look like a shooter box again, then it's going to kiss much of the non-shooter market goodbye and, yeah, inevitably get outsold a LOT.

I have good news for you :

http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/NPD_Group

They don't count Amazon (or other internet) direct download game sales.

But any physical game sales and hardware sales DO count with NPD :)

The sales for the long-building Destiny bundle will all count in September NPD (announced in October). With the thing being ranked so highly for so long (more people are STILL preordering the PS4 destiny bundle than are buying XB1s day to day!!), I'm expecting possibly near 1M PS4 sales for September. More likely 600-750k, but anything is possible.
