these numbers kick ass ps4 at 140K w/o meaningful Sw whats gonna happen when gta5 releases? what about CODAW, destiny, Uncharted, the order, bloodbourne, RER, and MGS5. sales are gonna be huge your gonna see 20M a yr sales WW for the PS4 very soon

I just refuse to believe the PS4 can be sitting on 20 million by the end of 2014. That would be beyond amazing. I'm personally thinking 17-18 million, 35 by the end of 2015.

Numbers are still obviously undertracked by 100-300K.

ioi already explained it. You can't just throw in numbers randomly.

Looks like that's what they did though.
Besides, they could throw in an extra 100 just to get those pretty (and more accurate) 10M numbers for the month if they're not going to explain how/where they made the adjustments anyway, and then reduce 100k the following month.

I'm pretty sure vgc pro users get sales data for each country, or most all countries that actually matter. So while RoW and most of Europe is a black hole of sales data for us free users and we have no idea where ioi put those console sales, the pro users will be able to exactly which markets got the adjustments.

And vgc still has to put up numbers according the data they gather and the mathematical modelling they apply to arrive at the current estimate. More refinements and more data in coming months might end up with 16 Aug 2014 week showing PS4 Ltd as just over 10 million. While I know their number is still low, I know there are valid reasons for this and I don't believe there's bias. Hell if people are actually paying ioi money for this data then any hint of actual bias pretty much destroys the value of paying for sales data.

What ibwould like to see though is the mathematical modelling be subject to independent audit and a report published as to the mathematical reasonableness of it. Such an audit and report need not reveal anything in term so the details of the method or anything that might compromise the confidentiality of the method.

Anyway, great number for PS4, good 1 week bump for Wii U. We already know that Japan Wii U number will be half for the coming week so a momentary blip to get that >60k level.

I hope that now we have the adjustment pain out of the way we'll get week ending 23 Aug soonish.
