Forums - Nintendo - Pokken Tournament Revealed

I thought it did'nt look really good tbh...

But those complaining about it being on arcade, the fact that they bothered to make a english trailers shows that they are thinking about porting this to the west, and there is no way they can do it with arcades only. Also someone said that it was coming first on arcades, implying that it will launch on other platforms.

But like I said earlier, does'nt look to good, from what I saw this should be a 20$ eshop game and it would be great that way. But seeing more could easely change my opinion.

looks nice, but they will have a hard time selling it on wii u

Easy sell for people that already own a Wii U, but this wont be pushing any Wii U systems. I dont see this being a system seller at all even with Pokemon in the title.

"Pokemon" + "Tekken" ..... Whats hard about selling that on wiiu if its a good game? Pokemon alone being on console is huge news in its self and fighting genre games dont sell as much anymore. I think it'll easily do 2mil+ and that seems like plenty.

because there is no community for classic fighting games on the wii u, there could be some people that buy it for pokemon, but how many pokemon fans have a wii u AND are interested in fighting games??

Thats exactly it, how many? There are over 12mil pokemon fans, how many of them might say like Super Smash (cuz its a fighting game)? Maybe out of 12mil+, 3mil of them enjoy SSB as well, maybe their are some Street Fighter/Tekken/SC fans that enjoy pokemon and thats a game for them!

Speaking of SSB same could be said when introduced "because there is no community for classic fighting games on the N64" and Bam! Biggest Fighting game in history!

I think its too soon to think it wont sell :)

Yeah, I disagree completely. It will be huge on the Wii U, specifically and only because of the Pokemon title. I honestly think it can hit Mario Kart and Smash numbers. A Pokemon game like this isn't something to be underestimated.

Needs a lot better graphics though because it looks like shit now (not talking gameplay wise).

Why are third party made Nintendo games always so ugly? :( (this and Hyrule Warriors). Bayonetta 2 is an exception (and Yoshi's Woolly World as well I guess, although Good Feel only makes games for Nintendo it seems).

It definitely needs better graphics, but people bought Pokemon X&Y. They won't avoid buying it because of how it looks. I was hoping it would look more like Marvel vs Capcom, but alas.

Also, Bayonetta 2 isn't a Nintendo game.

With this, Hyrule Warriors and now the Zelda/AC in Mario Kart...as well as Smash ofcourse...

Guess Nintendo were serious when they said there would be plenty of crossovers.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Well, I think the Pokémon look better in X&Y than this game lol. Mostly thanks to a much better (and simpler) art style. I wonder how main Pokémon games will handle the eventual HD transition because so far I absolutely detest HD Pokémon (Super Smash Bros. 4 and this). They end up looking like plastic. The Wii U should be powerful enough to add real fur to Pokémon, or scales for Pokémon like Charizard. The designs of Pokémon will have to be reworked IMO. The simple style they have now only works well for weaker systems.

Well, at least the trailer said the game footage will not be final...

MehhhI just dont see it. From what I saw from the trialer it looks to be one of those hardcore fighting games like Tekken and Street Fighter that appeal to that niche fighting game audience. Yeah sure having Pokemon in the title will help it sell and appeal to the casuals but I cant imagine anyone going out of there way to buy a Wii U because of this game.

Mario Kart and Smash have mass casual appeal I dont see this game having it Pokemon in the title or not. It also doesnt help that this will be an arcade game first probably meaning it may have a lack of content (Story mode, etc.) Although Nintendo could always add that in if they want to have a full retial release but I honestly think it will just be a downloadable title in the future.
