Seems to me like Western devs are kicking Nintendo's rear end at making break out hits for casuals for a while now.

Angry Birds, Candy Crush, Minecraft, Fruit Ninja, etc.

Maybe they should spend a few dollars on financing some Western studios to see if they can't make a break out hit like that, but they won't because it's just not how Nintendo of today operates. Nintendo 15 years ago? No doubt. They would be financing small Western/indies like crazy and they'd give teams like the Darksiders guys a shot to make games, but Nintendo of today? No way.

Basically all assumption and no facts? It's not like Nintendo published lego city undercover

Just like the lies and bullshit that jumpin, hedra and myself have pointed which you refuse to address? Ok then, i'll just bookmark this thread for the lols

LEGO City and what else? *crickets*

The facts are in the games and Nintendo has precious little to show for Western development since 2002. There really is no debating that. If anything Western development on Nintendo's part should have *increased* from the 90s to now, the FACT that its decreased is simply baffling.

It's actually fairly egregious that Iwata, after swimming in all that money from the Wii/DS eras, could not even open *one* single Western studio.

And yet Nintendo fans wonder why they don't have games today. Would it have been that difficult to open one fairly decent sized studio in the US/Canada and perhaps another in Europe somewhere?

I agree with Purple above, though a lot of this is politics ... Iwata doesn't want to have a strong NOA like they had in the 90s. It could eventually become a threat to his own leadership position so he purposely keeps NOA/NOE under his foot and weak.

Bolded - Another one to add to my request - Source?

Funny still avoiding my last question. We all know why

To be fair your questions aren't clear. Can you state them clearly?

Never said:
Nintendo doesn't need more boring western devs. They need even more awesome Japanese devs.

What's wrong with having both?

Why isn't he addressing the lies and misinformation pointed out by jumpin, hedra and myself in this page?

Why do I have to source that? It's my point of view on the situation.

Ask yourself why Iwata made himself president of NOA when he himself admits he doesn't understand the Western market very well.

It falls pretty much well in line with the post Purple made. I don't need Nintendo PR statements to form an opinion, because PR as we're well aware is basically just putting spin on bullsh*t.

It's purely conjecture, but it's not like he's going to release a press statement announcing he's destroying Western operations to consolidate power closer around himself. I think him appointing himself as CEO of NOA (when he admits he has no understanding of the West) is pretty suggestive he feels he needs to be in control of everything.

If you want to believe Iwata is doing a great job at attractive Western support then fair enough. It's pretty apparent to most onlookers though, that he is not.

Reask your question, the quote trees are too long there to address every single point and some of your comments are flat out just false (ie: Yamauchi is the one who dismantled Western ties ... patently false).

He's doing a horrible job with Western developers, anyone who can say with a straight face Nintendo has done great with Western development under his reign is just full on drinking the kool-aid.

All your comments are false. And why are you avoiding addressing the lies and misinformation spouted by yourself in this thread?

Ask your question or leave the thread. My comments aren't false, there is a dramatic decline in Nintendo Western development since 2002 when Iwata took over the company.

That is a FACT. Sorry if it rubs you the wrong way, but it is what it is. They are much more of an insular Japanese centric company today than they were in 1997. Given that 80%+ of the traditional game market today is basically in the West, one has to wonder if this is really a wise direction for a video game company to have.
