Forums - Gaming - Microsoft Won’t Have a Tokyo Game Show Conference This Year.

Tokyo Game Show is less than a month away, kicking off on September 18th, and Microsoft will have to bring the big guns if it wants to make a breakthrough with the Xbox One in the Japanese market, since the console will release locally just a couple weeks before, on September 4th.

Xbox Division head Phil Spencer will lead the charge personally, as he mentioned on Twitter that he plans to be in attendance.

I am planning on going to TGS this year.

Spencer had mentioned just a few days ago that he was still working on the plans for the show, but at the very least now we know that Microsoft won’t hosd a keynote, as confirmed by Game Studios Global Marketing Manager Aaron Greenberg.

We are not doing a TGS keynote this year.

Despite the lack of an actual Keynote, I fully expect Microsoft to push hard this year, given how close we’ll be to the launch of the Xbox One in the archipelago of the rising sun. I’ll be on the show floor shredding the soles of another pair of shoes (to match those I literally destroyed at Gamescom), so you can expect full coverage here on DualShockers.

Critical market indeed.

DOA

So Sony's on its own, better make something out of it, cause I don't even remember anything from last year.

So Xbox One is even more dead in Japan than it already was destined to be?

Don't get me started on that, Shu has already said that TLG won't be at TGS (though that still won't stop some people from specualting) which I find a bit weak after the whole situation with IGN before E3 this year.

I just want a big JRPG at the show, maybe a FFXV releasedate (a man can dream, and sorry but I'm not boycotting SE) and just a couple good surprises.

After TGS is over I'll make a thread comparing all the announcements of the big 3 over the summer and then we can decide who won the gaming summer of 2014.

It would be a great move to get The Last Guardian on PS4 in 2015. At least people would stop joking around!

...

Nah, who am I kidding, this game will probably not even be mentioned lol. But at least there is big chance for Soul Sacrifice 2 and Gravity Rush 2. And with the cell shaded style of GR and the design of SS I can see them becoming cross buy titles with PS4 and Vita. Where the difference is only in graphics and fps. However Sony could make those games PS4 exclusive. Certainly some JRPG games. Maybe Tales of Xilia 3 and Ni No Kunt 2 on PS4
