In january 2014, mojang announced they had sold 13m copies of minecraft on PC, the stats page here: https://minecraft.net/stats
now states that total for PC version is 16,423,773, so minecraft for PC has sold roughly 3.4m in 2014.

Better move those goalposts to 'exclusive/per platform and console only'.

MK8 sales have currently already dropped below minecraft PC's weekly sales (averaging around 84k/week), so the chances of this fact changing any time soon as nonexistant.

Despite being a Sony Girl, I sincerely doubt Destiny will sell that much. Then again, Sony never got a really space shooter.

Being a sony girl doesn't really make a difference, it's a cross platform, gross generation game.

To return to topic, as the lovely Tamron has pointed out, Minecraft PC has moved 3.4m units in 2014, besting MK8 by a clean million units.

As a result,

MK8 is not the highest selling game in 2014, Minecraft is.
MK8 is not the highest selling single-platform game in 2014, , Minecraft PC is.
MK8 certainly is not the highest selling cross-platform game in 2014, Minecraft is.

Hardly surprising when you consider the fact that Minecraft has the longest retail legs in the history of videogaming.

It is, however, the highest selling console-only exclusive in 2014, but when you have to narrow down the parameters that tightly to result a win, can you really call it a win?, after all you're just one step away from all out saying "MK8 is the highest selling nintendo exclusive in 2014, which holds little to no real value.

And no, this isn't a "hateful attack on the WiiU" so don't treat it as such, this is simply the cold hard truth.

I meant first week sales on PS4. And Minecraft? Really? If you like it that way Flapy Bird on IOS and Android outsold Minecraft.
