Educated guess from my Facebook and Twitter:
Around 30% to 40% of the staff were laid off.
Majority of these are full time exempt employees (salary positions).
Some have been at Sucker Punch over 10 years.
All areas effected including design, programming, art, marketing, production, and test.

Well that kinda rules out the whole "This is normal" excuse.

Sucks for the people laid off, I wonder how big the studio was beforehand.

And while this might not be the only reason, this definitely had in part something to do with First Light being finished, I heard not too long ago that Sucker Punch is a studio that wants to concentrate on finishing one project before starting another (I think it was in an interview regarding First Light), meaning that they will only just now start with development on their next title. So since they are in pre production right now probably, they unfortunately won't need the people they laid off at the moment.

They could have possible, dare I say it, let them remaster the PS3 Infamous games, but it looks like they didn't deem it worthy for Sony.
