I guess the problems is that, in the internet, we're used to believe every person is a guy. So we either make sexists comments without think somewhere a girl is reading this, or just 'cause we aren't used to see how a girl reacts to X or Y random comment.

In my experience, I've never seen/talked to a girl on this site, so I might have done sexist comments already without realising it migh be offensive. And also because of that, I would get very salty about a ban/moderation since I normally talk to others in an offensive way.



Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

could be but it isnt.. its just a way of expression. It wouldnt even been taken seriously by some posters if it werent for that other thread. my point is that this is happening all the time and no one cares until something major happens and all of a sudden everyone is smart and wise and starts to report people all over the forum. some people on vgc are not worth it to be taken seriously by mods.. and yes it was just a joke no harm intended.

with regards to that other thread i'd agree that hating on women because they exhibit sexual desires is not only lame as hell but also quite hypocritical since as heterosexual men the men who do the hating on female seuxality like to be sexual with women

however, i don't think that's what that thread was about really, i think that the op mean't the thread to be a discussion about the integrity of gaming journalism, the integrity of the game designer who was named with regards to promotion of her game and also the apparent notion that sexism can only be perpetrated against women

although i'd say that the op did a poor job of setting the thread up to discuss this properly

Well to my knowledge, it was only really males (often referred to a MRAs by another poster) on that side of the discussion, however, the main point is that you pretty much referred to numerous posters (not by name) as perverts, which is certainly an insult (and insulting other users is against the rules), whether or not it could be considered sexist. I think there were valid reasons to be interested in the situation and the discussion of the situation, although I do believe that some of your bannings were certainly just. Some people went too far, whether they were joking or not. Its just that with sexism, people always assume that it is against females, or rather, by a certain group of people (mysogynists) where comments on the other side of the discussion can be just as offensive and yet they often get overlooked.

I'm glad you are open to constructive critisism. Some other sites I've been on have been a little trigger happy when it came to critiques of the moderation staff. 

Fair enough, next time I will be clearer if I can. I was mostly referring to the people that reddit had already banned. As Mr Khan said, if reddit is banning you you should sit up and take notice.

On the broader point, I wont wade into whether the MRA specifically is a reasonable avenue for supporting men's rights, but I agree that sexism can be and often is directed at both sexes.


So now that you have admitted to being a little unclear on what you feel is sexist, do you mind unbanning my account?

I'm against sexism, But I've made some sexist jokes at several points. I recall saying that girls don't come to VGC because they're too busy at "Kitchen Chartz". I honestly thought most people would take that as a light hearted joke, but apparently not. I'll refrain from making such posts in the future (:

The male users on VGChartz have had little or no interaction with human females. We live in a world where technology rules over people's lives. Social interactions of both males and females will continue to decline over time as people become more dependent upon technology.

I agree. It happens a lot. And the bans we met out are typically for the blatant stuff, not the subtle stuff because of it.

But it can't hurt to keep it at the forefront of people's minds.
