Forums - Gaming - Ubisoft interested in EA Access like program, thinks it's good for publisher brands

Terrible idea IF they start hiding shit behind it.

If they keep it the way it SHOULD be (pay get games no bs) then fine. Put all the subscription services you would like up. Some people will find value it may add another revenue stream for the companies which should in theory give us more games. However some douche' will eventually try to jack up their subs by hiding something (EA is already working their way to it).

Time will ultimately tell. And i just hope people flip shit when it starts going down and they find out that we wont stand for it.

I will say this though. If you cant make enough revenue for your game from its sales, dlc, premium/season passes, microtransactions, retail merch. Then maybe you should just have made a better game to begin with and you wouldn't have to go through all this extra crap.

It's fine. People can get the publisher package they like best. You'll still be able to buy your own games and keep them if you want, so I don't see what the fuss is about...

Choice is NEVER a bad thing, people.

So what happens when EA and Ubisoft start locking off content exclusively for the subscription service? I mean you're trusting EA not to abuse their power here.

Just let them figure this out in time. Given EA's track record you probably wont have to wait to long.

Its like trying to tell someone not to do something. They are gona do it anyway and then look around like why didnt anybody tell me not to do that. Then you can jump in there ad be like told ya so.

Define this content?

If it's just demos or some subscriber goodies, who the hell cares? If it's full blown games exclusive only to the service, it's a suicidal move, because that game will never sell well.

I'm talking like exclusive DLC. We've already seen it being locked behind preorders and limited editions this gen. I just find it hard to trust EA but we'll see.

They would lose a shit ton of money if they gave exclusive DLC. We'll see, but EA would be idiots if they gave any noteworthy DLC only to subscribers.

That being said, if it's only a few costumes or non-essentials, who really cares?
