Forums - Gaming - Would VG Chartz descent into anarchy if there was no one controlling the Forums?

After the dust settled it would be about the same size as VizionNeck...

Let's not. But admittedly I wonder what would happen if we had a day where "anything goes"?

However as others have said already, the nature of the site is such that people will naturally have a stronger opinion, which leads to more heated discussions. Without moderators, it's obvious that the petty arguments will grow and grow until they're huge, all-engulfing flame wars which would drive away the actual quality posters.

That's just one thing really. So yes, it would descend into anarchy.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

We'd have 100's of Spurgeonryan threads detailing his daily shenanigans

A cesspool of anonymous posters in the same place talking about highly opinionated topics that they are mostly passionate about with no modification on a medium that means you basically can get away with anything?

No, thank God for mods, the best forums are always the most moderated ones. The stricter the moderation, the mre the community grows.

Yes, like The Purge. 24 hours of non-moderation instead of 12. Anything goes. The mods are an impartial party, so they can't join The Purge.

But this is a very bad idea, since it would show our true intention, and we would all know what buttons to push to anger other users.

OT, I believe we would have total chaos if no one keeps the forum in check. It would turn like the IGN comments section, maybe even worse (Youtube). From fanboyish comments to completely unecessary comments. Clean up duty would take ages. I just hope nothing like it happens.

I think it would PROBABLY be ok with no moderation for the most part. That being said there have been regulars in the past that if allowed to run freely would surely go out of their way to ruin someone's day. It would depend on if the community would bend to people like that or just ignore them...

Bugger was just about to make that joke....

I think this place has better discussion than many forums (that arent single console based). I definately prefer a stricter rule than most sites , too many people attached to their preferred console in this hobby.

I think the forums would be ruined from the spam bots alone. If no one regulates that. Also, from people who would bully others endlessly. They be force to quit and userbase would drop.

It would descend into stupidity. Oh wait's that already happened.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
