Nice that it's 1080p60FPS. The games are pretty graphically impressive!

900p vs 1080p (or similar 30% - 50% resolution variations) seems to be the standard difference between multi-plats that make use of the PS4's advantage. Pretty significant to those of us who are sensitive to IQ, but overall it seems like a reasonable difference that won't make anyone (except fanboys) too annoyed.

Not all multi-plat developers will bother/want to (for several obvious reasons), but it's nice when the developer puts in the little bit of extra effort.

I think 900p to the PS4s 1080p is a acceptable standard that the XB1 should be ok with. And everyone else for that matter unless they are anal (PS4 fans) or delusional (XB1 fans).

While, I do somewhat agree with what you said before this sentence. I do not agree with this. No, a 900p framerate to a 1080p framerate is not acceptible if one is paying the same money for both consoles. It would be acceptble if it were 100-150 dollars less than the ps4.

I know where you are coming from, and in all honesty the XB1 should cost less than the PS4. If looking purely from a performance perspective, there simply is no reson the XB1 should cost as much as the PS4. However, the XB1 compared to the PS4 was just bad design all through. In truth, its not really bad design its just bad compared to the PS4. MS technically spent more to get less. Thier APU costs more than the PS4s more powerful APU, though that was cause they had to put the SRAM in there and move engines to compensate for the cheaper but slower DRAM.

So you are right, MS should basically just accpet that their XB1 can never really match the PS4 pound for pound and try to attack the PS4 by being the always cheaper box. I mean even if sony dropped their price to $100 the XB1 should come in at $98. MS will no doubt hope that their first party offers can skew the comparisons though. That way they can say... hey its not our fault other devs can't get their games running at 1080p, just look at ours. Though right now games like Titanfall or Ryse wouldn't be making too good a case for them.

If 900p becomes the norm or standard for XB1, then there console should always cost less than the PS4. In a perfect world.

It's going to be the same way the entire generation.

I think I'll actually pick this up, only played a little bit of Metro 2033.

It's locked at 60, that's the most important. But, not to start something here, didn't the developer say both version were 1080p?

No, they originally said 1080p for the PS4 and 900p for the X1. It seems they used the kinect GPU power that was freed up to better stabilize the frame rate and give the resolution a slightl bump to 912p (900p+2.6%).

Hmm.. and a golf game cant even get a smooth 1080p 60fps.

What do you mean by effort? If suggesting that more effort is put into the XB1 version to make it on par then I might agree with you. But I doubt anyone would be putting more effort into making the PS4 version shine. Simply putting the same amount of work on both platforms should endup with you having that 30% resolution boost by default on the PS4.

Personally, if I were a multiplat developer, I would always make the XB1 the lead platform. Do everything I can to get it running at 30/60fps in 900p. Then just port that game over to the PS4. Up the pixel and texture rez, up some post processing and just boost or further stabilize the framerate. i would like to think that its like if you can get it stable on the XB1, then you don't have to worry about the PS4 version. Which unfortunately means that multiplat games that fully take advantage of the PS4 hardware will be few and far in between.

Devs may show the PS4 versions on most media outlets (except where marketing deals were made) cause its more stable and shows off their game better, but I really think that at their studios all the work is done first on the XB1.

I'm just being realistic. I do agree with you, if they were to put the same amount of effort into both versions then the PS4 version would almost always come out ahead by a relatively significant margin, but they don't. Many developers would rather simply put less work into the PS4 version and target parity. Destiny is a recent example of that.

I suppose it would be more accurate to say it's nice when developers put in all the effort that should be expected, and don't use the PS4's extra power as a time saving mechanic.

According to the DF article the significant of the resolution difference is somewhat lowered by the dark colours of the game. The raw pixel count difference is obviously pretty large, but the end product is relatively similar. To quote them exactly (from the 1st pic comparison):

"On the face of it, a 912p vs 1080p resolution differential is pretty big. The combination of good anti-aliasing and low contrast art equals the playing field somewhat. Pixel crawl/shimmer on movement - something we can't show in a screenshot - is where PS4 shows the biggest improvement."
