What do you mean by effort? If suggesting that more effort is put into the XB1 version to make it on par then I might agree with you. But I doubt anyone would be putting more effort into making the PS4 version shine. Simply putting the same amount of work on both platforms should endup with you having that 30% resolution boost by default on the PS4. Personally, if I were a multiplat developer, I would always make the XB1 the lead platform. Do everything I can to get it running at 30/60fps in 900p. Then just port that game over to the PS4. Up the pixel and texture rez, up some post processing and just boost or further stabilize the framerate. i would like to think that its like if you can get it stable on the XB1, then you don't have to worry about the PS4 version. Which unfortunately means that multiplat games that fully take advantage of the PS4 hardware will be few and far in between. Devs may show the PS4 versions on most media outlets (except where marketing deals were made) cause its more stable and shows off their game better, but I really think that at their studios all the work is done first on the XB1. |
I'm just being realistic. I do agree with you, if they were to put the same amount of effort into both versions then the PS4 version would almost always come out ahead by a relatively significant margin, but they don't. Many developers would rather simply put less work into the PS4 version and target parity. Destiny is a recent example of that.
I suppose it would be more accurate to say it's nice when developers put in all the effort that should be expected, and don't use the PS4's extra power as a time saving mechanic.
