Forums - Nintendo - Ubisoft Clarifies Reasoning For The Crew Skipping Wii U

What an awful excuse. I'd have more respect if they just said they don't want to do it because it's Nintendo and selling poorly.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Nintendo's lack of focus in the online gaming department, is the SOLE reason that most devs skip their console.

DLC, ADD ON CONTENT, if released on the Wii-U, it will be a total waste.

Get your act together Nintendo.

You do realize basically everything you just said is wrong?

On topic: Poor excuse, Ubisoft.   Similar infrastructure?

(1) Almost every game that is released today is DLC/ Add On Content heavy plus some sought of multiplayer component.

(2) WII & WII-U are both dead last in onling gaming community size.

(3) WII & WII-U are dead last in DLC/ Add On Content sales.

Why again would a developer want to release their game on a Nintendo console ?

what has this got to do with the topic?

Also it is not hard to fit ALL the content on a disc. If something is DLC means it is not critical to the core game so why would you expent people to buy it? I never buy it on any of my systems.

Some of you'll fail to realize that it's not all about game disk sales alone anymore.

DLC/ ADD-ON content & Online multiplayer DLC is as much a focus for developers continued income stream.

WII & WII-U are no way on par with the online communities of the Playstation/ XBox communities. Hence, smaller chance of making extra money after the game is released.

Nintendo needs to step up their online gaming community efforts in order for developers to care about their consoles again.

And you base this claim on your extensive experience with Nintendo's online, right?

Never mind that Nintendo's online has all of the essential features (stuff like cross-game chat are secondary features at best). Never mind that DLC (also known as add-on content, not sure why you added that like it was a second type of thing) is doing fine on Wii U when it actually does get released.

Nintendo themselves show little to no interest in making their inhouse 1st part games online heavy focused, so why should any other developer care.

Ninendo is behind the curve on online gaming big time. Until this changes, you will see little effort from developers to port their games to their systems.

each and every part of your post is wrong.

I'm still trying to figure out how a smaller community equates to a lack of focus.  It's just smaller.

You post as though you believe the Wii U isn't capable of an online game or DLC/extra content.  Do you realize the Wii U was the first home console to have same day download and retail release for every game?

interesting fact viper

and this is at sabastion(in bold)

mario kart 8,pikmin 3, hyrule warriors, and most likely smash bros all have dlc and it works fine

mario kart has new cars coming pikmin 3 had new missions hyrule warriors has new characters, stages, and costumes coming and smash might have dlc stages and characters

plus I''ll say wii u can handle online games

Perhaps you meant to post this as a reply to somebody else? After all, my post had nothing to say about Nintendo's first-party titles, only about their online infrastructure. And I accused you of not having any experience, and that it showed in your claim... and you provided no real, substantive response to that.

So either you meant to say it to somebody else, or your intent is to attack a system that is competing with the one you prefer, for no other reason than preference. Either way, you are using a tired, old argument that is no longer applicable.

Anytime I see a headline with "Ubisoft clarifies" or "Ubisoft explains", I know not to take anything in the article seriously.
