Forums - Gaming - So,.. the horror genre is back?

Fatal frame, Silent Hil, Alien Isolation, and Evil within. Yes, pretty much the horror genre is back.
Btw, the Last of Us isn't a horror game.

i wouldnt say so just yet alot of these horror games now are indie titles until we see big devs release them there still not mainstream enough. the evil within is the first game of this gen that can show us the genres potential but in reality it aint next gen when it releases on last gen HW and by the recent gameplay vids on pewdiepies youtube channel i dont have high hopes for the game i dont believe it will get good reviews or sales

also alot of titles for your this year aint releasing this year thers also quite a few PC only good horror titles that released last gen that arent on your list and tlou isnt horror

                                                                      Play Me

This is probably due to the insane success of smaller games like Amnesia and Slender. Can't believe it took a couple indie games to show the industry how stupid they were to forsake an entire genre.

P.T. was way too scary, in a good way, but, seriouslly, some people could die of a heart attack playing that game.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

True. I don't remember being this scared in a game. And not even the jumpscares, just seing that ghost standing there, looking at me made my heart stop.
This is what hyped me the most about the next SH game. Not even Kojima or Del Toro, but the sheer terror I felt while playing P.T.
Can't. Wait.

True, jump scares are one thing, but making classic horror and giving the player fear without cheap tricks is something amazing. I was amazed during the whole thing.

Also, if this teaser was a indie game, just like it is, I would gladly pay 9 or 10 bucks for it.

Same. Plus it has some actual value, thanks to the random events/secrets, etc...

I already spent like 5-6 hours on this.

I finished Ground Zeroes in 4, and it cost me 30 bucks...

Crazy, it happened to me also, I played for 6 hours, just stopped because it was driving me insane. A free TEASER that gives you the best horror experience in all the video games history, how weird is Kojima...

As weird as he is awesome.

I wouldnt say 'horror games' as opposed to 'zombie games'.

True horrors games are a niche and will most likely fall of the map again in a few years.
