Forums - Gaming Discussion - Spencer: "The battle is really September, October, November, and December."

And you will lose.

Ehh.

X1 has the much better line-up coming, aside from the Destiny fiasco which I still don't think will be as lopsided as people think. So... we'll wait and see. He may well be right, and they may well be gearing up for a substantial push come the holiday, especially if they roll out a MCC Bundle.

Well, the holiday season will be interesting in the US.

And what will the excuse be after this holiday season? The battle is NEXT September, October etc etc?

The unfortunate fact is that the trends displayed in the rest of the year will carry over to the holiday season, so his argument is just stalling for time. There's nothing they've announced that can reverse the already established trend, so discounting the rest of the year as not important is misguided. You don't just wipe the slate clean when you get to the important months.

I don't disagree with his sentiment overall here though, which is that he and the Xbox team are still battling for first place, which they should be and is the right message to send to their customers.

I want to win this generation, but I want to win more than I want the other guy to lose. I own a PS4, and it's not like I want it to get dusty or not have games. But I do want to sell a lot of Xbox Ones, and for many people that's a direct competition with the PS4. As the Xbox team, we are the underdog."

"They beat us in June. They beat us in May, and they will beat us in July, August, September, November, December and the whole generation" Spencer added. "These months are small if you look at the sales. I think the whole month of June is about one week in November. They're winning, and they'll do their PR around it, and that makes sense. The battle is really September, October, November, and December."

Fixed it for Phill.

Lets be honest here. Even with barely any release, the PS4 is rapeing the One in sales thus far, and all signs suggest that we have even undertracked the machine. Just think about the slaughter that will occur when the big exclusives are comming. Add in the fact that MS is on the verge of abandonig everything that is hardware related and you have a brand that is slowly declining out of relevance.

They have to continue fighting or they would give up.

But I think they are going to struggle to win any month this year. Their line up is weak for major exclusives (same as Sony), they have a single game exclusive more than Sony this Xmas (AAA) and thats only because they haven't had as many exclusives in the year.

Unfortunately Sunset Overdrive - i don't see it doing that well, Forza will do fine and Halo will do best, but i cannot see it pushing significantly more than Sony, especially as September will be in Sony's favour big time because of Destiny..that will push a lot of users and their friends to PS4.

In terms if AC Unity, one of the reasons why Sony didn't need to back it this year (so they could put money into Destiny) is that the more serious AC players already moved to nextgen last year for BlackFlag.

Sony always does well early in the year, and with Bloodbourne and The Order in the first part of the year, again they will be pushing well. It doesn't sound good for MS.. they have games in dev but they seem way off, looks like they blew their cards early and now have not much coming up.

Great games coming for Xbox in those months. It the system that gets my playtime.

Great games coming on both systems!

MGS5 is coming to PC... there goes any reason to buy a PS4 for that game.

Well, september is already lost , by faaaaaaaaaaar. Same for october with the momentum of september.

And well, it will probably be the same for november and december, it will be a stomp.

What happens if they lose?

Was it really a good idea to say this?
