My comment would fit any company because every company enjoys when their closest competitor is failing.
And I don't really get what you're going for. People who are glad that the other fanbase didn't get a game will likely not care about the exclusives of said other side. They're fanboys. So no, they won't feel a thing because of this announcement. Even less so because the Silent hill fanbase is not really among the MS loyals.

I'm conflicted honestly, I know he'll give a good performance but I'm worried seeing a familiar face will break the immersion a little. 

Agreed... The best thing about SH's characters is that they are mysterious. We don't know them in any way.

But here, we all know his face.

 

But well, if they're going for a game+movie release, having big names is always better.

Silent hill has really gone downhill recently (no pun intended i swear :D) but with those names involved it would be hard not to get atleast a little excited.

Nobody really knows whether it's exclusive or not, yet.  People are leaning yes, because someone found an image that suggest that SCE* was publishing, but I haven't been able to find any confirmation from Kojima online, on the topic.
