The PSP was redesigned last year, and it still doesn't come even remotely close to the Nintendo DS in weekly sales.

There is no way they will ever catch the DS.  And in fact it falls farther and farther behind each week.  To the point where it is not even selling 50% of the DS worldwide.  Its even been 3 weeks since PSP had a top 20 seller in software worldwide.  Talk about DOA...  I think PSP is the most DOA of any system this generation.

It seems hard for people to accept that fact that two portalble systems can be a success at the same time. Further more, three consoles can be a success at the same time. The video game industry is larger than the movie industry. Do you want all movies to be created by Fox? There is enough billions to go around.

The PSP was, according to PR spin, never intended to compete with the DS. Of course, even if you don't factor in the DS, the PSP's software sales are atrociously bad. The only real reason I can see to keep it going is if the hardware end has finally become profitable.   It's nice to say that the system is doing well, but really, it's not doing that great at all...

Just because you don't have a majority share of a particular market doesn't make you a failure or "DoA". The PSP sells, sells well, and has a strong software line-up in the next few monthes. I'm sure Sony's making money, which is the goal---NOT to "beat the DS".

This is coming from a guy who prefers the DS and only recently got a PSP, by the way. If anything, I'm a Nintendo guy.

The psp is not dead it have great games coming this year the thing is that the ds software sells better.
