Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Rise of the Tomb Raider Timed Exclusive for Xbox

This desperate bullshit, ladies and gentlemen, is a perfect example of why Xbox is losing market share rapidly.

It's not the hardware or their games. It's the company. It's the skeezy shit like this they try to pull.

All Hail the Jester King. The King is back, and I am still a dirty girl prof ;)

Haha, can't believe the comparison to a sony co-developed game Bloodborne convo went on so long. But too funny to see it only being timed.

Thanks jlmurph!

So many "gamers" saying they either won't or can't play it now.

WHAT!

Those who have only ever owned sony consoles (and theres a lot of them on this site) really do need to grow up.

I can't stand sony (i have my reasons), but gen after i gen i still get their consoles at the end of the day.

It's not like the game doesn't exist, all you need is an xbox one......... simple.

All you need is that other $400 system that plays about 90% the same games your PS4 already plays, just that the PS4 plays them better, so that aside from possibly this you don't have much reason to actually use it, if you aren't into its other exclusives. It's only 400 bucks, what's the problem, don't you shit money?

^^^  This...plus the fact that I abhor the "Metro UI" on the Xbox, dislike their new controller, and am deeply opposed to buying a system where even the usb cables are proprietary!

Funs over, folks....looks like despite the "obvious" language, this deal is only a TIMED exclusive...and no one is saying for how long...but my bet is that it's a 3 month exclusive...just exclusive, as they said, for "Holiday 2015". Confirmed by Phil Spencer himself.

Isn't the connector on the dual shock 4 proprietary? All I know is that it isn't mini-usb like PS3 or Wii U. Unless they have a practical reason I find that shitty on Sony's part.

The DS4 uses an industry standard USB-Micro connector...the same one you use to charge your cell phone or tablet.  The DS3 uses USB-Mini.  Again, industry standard.  MS wants to make a little extra money from accessory sales, so they make their controller cables proprietary...then there is the proprietary power brick (Sony uses a standard power cord), the proprietary headphone jack (requiring you to buy a $20 adaptor), and the proprietary charging kit.

while not 100% sure if other cables work. (my ds4 is fully charged so when i plug it in i cant see if its switches to charging)  its just a micro USB.

Okay, well like I started to say but edited it out, I'm not a cable expert. I've never seen a usb-micro as my newer devices are apple and use ightning connectors. All I knew is I have had a drawer half full of mini-usb cords and the two are so similar I couldn't figure out why PS4 even needed a different port on the controller.

It is crappy they only give you a three foot charge cord though. An extension cord is required if you only have one controller. At least it charges very quickly though.

edit: sorry, I derailed the post.
