I know its hard for fan boys to wrap there heads around this but I think you are looking at it all wrong. Does it suck that Tomb Raider is going to be exclusive? Yeah I guess it does for those who don't have more than one system with that one system not being the XB1. However we all remember how Square Enix was talking about the reboot was such a huge under taking and investment that it would need to sell a ridiculous amount to make any money on it. When you check out news.xbox.com you can see that Microsoft is listed as the publisher with just Crystal Dynamics being the Developer and no mention of Square Enix. This would indicate that Square Enix was on the ropes about funding a sequel to the reboot and MIcrosoft came along and made it an easy decision for them by covering all the up front costs and over head. This is less about Microsoft killing Tomb Raider and more about how it might actually be saving the series.

Actually, it's already been found that the listing of Microsoft as "publisher" was in error. No matter how you want to spin this, it's NOT good news for gamers. It's good for XB1 owners, that's it. It's not going to move hardware, it's not going to change the (failing) trajectory of the XB1...it's just a dick move by a company with more money than talent.

I wouldn't even say it's good news for Xbone owner's, it's not like they weren't getting the game to begin with.
I highly doubt the game was 'saved' from not being made too. The relaunch of TR was expensive but with the total sales over the 3 platforms it was on and the extra remastered versions on Xbone and PS4 it supposedly now turned a profit. From there, resources would be reused, they don't have to developer a new engine or anything, just make a sequal. What MS has probably done is paid for development (mostly) so SE have fewer concerns over needing to make a profit, it they have already made most of it back.
