It´s not like Microsoft put a gun in Square/CD president´s head to close the deal.

It was a bussiness decision. Money was exchanged and contracts were assingned.

So? It was a stupid business decision then.

Not to Square Enix it seems and Microsoft, it seems.

Oh well, So long Tomb Raider is was nice knowing you.
May you rest in peace in 2016, when SE pulls the plug on Crystal Dynamics

That's the saddest thing here. Regardless of what platform you play on, this move guarantees TR will be canned after Rise. No amount of MS money will cover the low sales numbers of the game, and we know how SE is. Look at their expectations for the first game.. Third time TR is going to die, wonder how the 4th reboot will be...

It's funny to read here, especially when I remember the time the TR reboot was revealed people (not generalizing but many from Sony side did it) hated on it, looking like Uncharted and uninspired. When it was released many of these people said it was ok but nothing ground breaking and where criticizing it for not being their beloved TR anymore.
Now it is moving on to another platform where a lot of people (including me, having played 1-4 of the old TRs) liked it the way it is.
Sometimes it seems people just search for opportunities to hate on MS. This topic will stay for weeks, months and the moneyhatting itself for years. I guess this will be the top spot on N4G for days to come.

Rise of the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition for multiplatform in 2016 confirmed...

Found the prefect quote here:

Instead of investing this money in a great first-party title, Microsoft is paying off Square Enix to not release Tomb Raider on other consoles

I think this could turn out to be good news. The last game sucked so hopefully by concentrating on one platform they can put effort into the story/gameplay side. Shame it won't be on pc though. The first one looked good so at least it had that going for it.

But, the last game didn't suck :(

But it did.. a lot. I was so disapointed because it had so much potential. This one might just live up to it.

Or.. people just can be annoyed because a game announced to be on multiple platforms (a few months earlier), is now exclusive to one. Not everything involves petty console wars.

Microsoft were always going to do this being in the position that they are in, at least it is only Tomb Raider.. for now.
Crystal must have expected a backlash from this news and probably hope the publicity pits it as a competitor to Uncharted, being a competitor to Uncharted can only help sales. Still a bad decision in my opinion

These reactions are absolutely hilarious. One thing to be annoyed another.. this?
I understand people being annoyed, but to go to these lengths? Wow.

What would you have done if Destiny had been cancelled on Xbox last year? Not exactly fair.

Wowza. Was not expecting that!

Given the sales of both the PS3 vs. 360 version, and then again in PS4 vs. XB1 version, it's a strange moneyhat. And makes the PS4 Definitive Edition seem like an even stranger decision. But there you go!
