Forums - Nintendo - Can Wii U ever regain decent 3rd party?

OT nope. Once we go full swing into this gen. its a wrap. maybe the smaller Japanese developers might do something kinda like they did with Wii/PS3 multiplat smaller games. But your Final Fantasies and what not, nope

nope lol, unless by decent you mean like the wii

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I can only see 3rd party support get worse for the Wii U (ppc) as devs shift to PS4 & XB1 (x86) only

I think this is a chance to embrace the quirky Japanese released games. In other words, the games that get released there that likely never see the light of day in Europe or America. Everyone knows that they will never get ports of PS4 and Xbox One releases. They could REALLY contrast themselves as the 'other' console withe all the unique and odd Japanese games. I have always thought companies think themselves too clever and have missed some opportunities by snubbing a game that catches fire in Japan and deem it too Japanese and don't release it here. Case in point, Youkai Watch 2. How does Nintendo just know it wouldn't work here. I know Nintendo does't own it, but if it is already released i.e., coded then it just needs marketed and localized. I also know that is a 3DS game, but the principle applies. They could strike gold here and never know because they deem it to out there for the America audience.

I think the real question is 'can Nintendo ever regain decent 3rd party?'. Unfortunately, the answer to either question is likely 'no'.

Nope.. The WiiU won't get games from franchises like Battlefield, Far Cry, etc... because the WiiU simply isn't powerful enough!

Nope but its not a big deal cause Wii U owners care about third party games.

It is simple as that. Either Nintendo will prove themselves with sales and software or they need to spend money buying 3rd party games.

Maybe in Japan but I think most major Western developers outside of Ubisoft are in writing Nintendo off as an entity they actively wish to avoid dealing with unless both Sony and Microsoft fail spectacularly and Nintendo is the only one making money.

its not that simple though. marketing and localzing do cost money. Especially if they dont know HOW to market. And that is a fair amount of text to translate. What they can do is put it on the eshop if they are not sur.e
