I know I'm not the only one who thinks so many remakes being planned, rumored, or confirmed is a little extreme. I'm sure it will only get worse with the success of TLoU HD as well. That said I don't want to focus on the value of of which HD remakes are worth it, or the hype of a remake of a remake. I want to focus on why.

Does the amount of rehashing going on for next generation consoles mean that developers were hesitant to jump on board to the next generation? Could the Wii U and less than stellar Japanese market have lead to developers, especially big Japanese developers, to focus on old and cross gen titles to the point that there are no real titles coming for the generation's early life and thus they're turning to HD remakes? How many more games will be announced as remakes before the year is done?

With TLoU HD being successful, I'm going to guess it'll be around 25% of the original's sales on nowhere near the same budget, I'm pretty sure there'll be a lot more of these games remade, so what games of last gen are you expecting to pop up?

I am waiting for God of War HD Collection HD Collection for PS4.

Seriously, even on the days of PS3 it was a means to make easy money since it wasnt backwards compatible.

I am sure there will be COD collections one day in the not too distant future.

I see HD remasters as this.

To each their own though.

But I do not mind remasters if they are older than 1 gen and cheap.

Agreed, or $60 for a collection, or if the game cannot be otherwise played.

 To be honest, Uncharted Trilogy HD, Metroid Prime Trilogy HD and Resident Evil 2 HD are the only remasters I want to happen! That's it...

Its very easy. If you dont like it, dont buy it. If people buy then there is no reason to get angry.

That HD trilogy borderlines on what is acceptable for me.

It can be bought on Wii and played on Wii U BUT its hard to find and the HD remaster will probably be cheaper than buying the original version.....

This exactly.

Cost to port is minimal and the last gen ran about 3 years too long.  All of the games from 2010 and forward will see decent upgrades going to the next gen.

Developers were just as much hesitant or not hesitant to jump on board of the next gen as they were in the past generations.

It's just that 2 things have changed:

1. Games take longer to make
2. Games are therefore more expensive to make

That's why some developers decided to put remasters of their last games, which are done pretty quick and cheap, on the new systems to bridge the time until they have their new games ready.

I can't find it anywhere for a cheap price, so that's why I would be happy if a HD version of the Prime Trilogy would come out!
