Yup... That's pretty bad... :-/

Its so sad cause MS seem to be trying so hard.

It's almost as sad as watching Brazil loose 7-1 in their home country. And this is coming from a PS fan. 8 to 1 in Europe. Damn.

Europe likes going rough on American (NA/SA) people ;o

nothing is wrong with that at all, but that doesnt really answer my question. i would bet most everybody dancing around, jumping for joy in this thread have played the last of us on ps3.

again, im just really curious as to why people are so hyped about a remake of a one year old game and the sales for it and what its doing for an already very successful console. i can see this kind of interest for like a new god of war game or something and the affect its having, but this? i am still not understanding.

and as a side note, if somebody wanted to play tlou so bad, why didnt they just get a ps3? way cheaper than spending 450 plus tax. so im not so sure that really has much to do with anything. i could be wrong though. it just seems a lot more reasonable to go the ps3 way..

I think you are trying really hard to make something outta nothing, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt. These should answer your questions.

  • 260M+ PS3/360/Wii were sold. That is at least 180M unique customers. TLoU on PS3 sold around 7M worldwide and maybe another 2M in used game sales/loan a friend sharing. So so far we are looking at 9-10M people that could have played that game. Still way short of 180M potential sales.  So for your reasoning to apply, all 180M people that could have played the game should have played it. A game is viable and relevant as long as people out there hasn't played it.
  • People that played the game loved it and like you would passionately talk about anything you love, so will they. So it just happens that they are recommending it to anyone that is coming into the PS4 right now. I don't see why that is so hard to understand. Unless of course you want to tell us you have NEVER recommended or hyped up a game you had played before because the game is a year old. If that is the case, then completely disregard this point, if it isn't then you must understand why I can't help but feel there is something off about your posts.
  • How badly/not anyone wanted to play TLoU is irrelevant. You can't really blame anyone for not going out and buying a PS3 at the last primary year of its life mostly for one game when its successor has been announced and is getting and being hyped up. And people buying a PS4 now for TLoU should tell you two things. There really are people that hadn't played the game and TLoU is just another reason to buy a PS4. Kinda like how anyone buying any other console has a number of reasons why they are buying it.
  • And about this remamke thing... the remaster came out excatly about a year after the original. Have you EVER seen a game of the year game release before? You know, that thing that they have been doing for over 20yrs across multiple platforms. So why is it suddenly a problem now to what has so far been described as the game of the last generation. I personally can't think of a game more deserving.

WWHD sold 120 1st week in the US. LT sales are currently at 1.02m.

WWHD has a pretty good digital percentage.

So does TLoU

Can we confirm that?

It has more than 25k ratings, and those can only be given when you buy it digitally. In comparison Infamous: Secon Son has 33k ratings.

Xbox as a brand WW is stuck in 3rd place 3 gens in a row, that freaking sucks. Fact remains that no Xbox console have ever outperformed a Nintendo or Sony consol WW by the time the consoles are taken off the market. Can't see this gen being any differnt.

Actually Xbox outsold Gamecube

WW yes it did, but mainly thanks too th US where most of the sales were, but if you take away the US in every single territory the gamecube outsolt the xbox. Wich is the point he was making. The US alone wont help the xbox brand thats why this gen it will be third place again.

Heh, totally slipped my mind.

With the PS4 having the mass market backing now and Uncharted 4 (Id assume) being the big holiday game for 2015... We could be looking at really big numbers.

Will definitely outsell Uncharted 3, I think we're looking at a game that will at least sell 7 million copies lifetime here.

Uncharted 4 vs Halo 5 will be an interesting battle I reckon

I dont think so. By the time thouse games come out, the ratio will be at least 3:1 worldwide. Uncharted wont even have to try hard to beat halo with that kind of installbase.

The original post clearly said WW. Besides the US is big for Xbox and is likely to be a big factor again this generation in the Xbox Ones attempts to overtake the Wii U.

You sure it didn't say world wide in the US? :P I don't know there are no gurantees with the US. What matters is games and quality of games and quantity. So
far Sony has em beat. More AAA's more Indies, better third party. MS turned a lot of people off and it's evident in the numbers. So they have to churn out mass high quality exclusives and stop losing exclusives to PC if they even want to close the gap.

Well PS2 dominated Xbox but Halo still sold very well. I don't see Halo continuing to be a 9 or 10m+ franchise on One but it could still sell 7m+. Will be close enough.

I don't know if that will necessarily tell the whole story between halo 5 and uncharted 4.  While uncharted 4 will certainly benefit from a larger install base halo 5's attach rate could make up the difference.  Say what you will about xbox fanboys, they buy a lot of software.

Problem is Xbox seems to be in decline outside of the US at the moment while fighting a losing battle against the PS4 in it, decline outside the US can offset any sales they have in the US when it comes to WW performance, it's clear many 360 owners were not dedicated Xbox fans and are opting for the PS4.
