again, im just really curious as to why people are so hyped about a remake of a one year old game and the sales for it and what its doing for an already very successful console. i can see this kind of interest for like a new god of war game or something and the affect its having, but this? i am still not understanding. and as a side note, if somebody wanted to play tlou so bad, why didnt they just get a ps3? way cheaper than spending 450 plus tax. so im not so sure that really has much to do with anything. i could be wrong though. it just seems a lot more reasonable to go the ps3 way.. |
I think you are trying really hard to make something outta nothing, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt. These should answer your questions.
- 260M+ PS3/360/Wii were sold. That is at least 180M unique customers. TLoU on PS3 sold around 7M worldwide and maybe another 2M in used game sales/loan a friend sharing. So so far we are looking at 9-10M people that could have played that game. Still way short of 180M potential sales. So for your reasoning to apply, all 180M people that could have played the game should have played it. A game is viable and relevant as long as people out there hasn't played it.
- People that played the game loved it and like you would passionately talk about anything you love, so will they. So it just happens that they are recommending it to anyone that is coming into the PS4 right now. I don't see why that is so hard to understand. Unless of course you want to tell us you have NEVER recommended or hyped up a game you had played before because the game is a year old. If that is the case, then completely disregard this point, if it isn't then you must understand why I can't help but feel there is something off about your posts.
- How badly/not anyone wanted to play TLoU is irrelevant. You can't really blame anyone for not going out and buying a PS3 at the last primary year of its life mostly for one game when its successor has been announced and is getting and being hyped up. And people buying a PS4 now for TLoU should tell you two things. There really are people that hadn't played the game and TLoU is just another reason to buy a PS4. Kinda like how anyone buying any other console has a number of reasons why they are buying it.
- And about this remamke thing... the remaster came out excatly about a year after the original. Have you EVER seen a game of the year game release before? You know, that thing that they have been doing for over 20yrs across multiple platforms. So why is it suddenly a problem now to what has so far been described as the game of the last generation. I personally can't think of a game more deserving.
