They've taken over all the banks in many towns, and are taking many oil refineries. They are rumored to be then selling that oil in the black market. And of course, they got their weapons originally from America, and are rumored to be getting money from Saudi Arabia.

Here's an interesting thing about ISIS funding I found:

Interesting how most of those countries think Saudia Arabia and the Gulf arab states are funding them. KSA and the Muslim Brotherhood, which are both Wahabi, claim Iran and Syria is funding ISIS. That wouldn't even make any sense since ISIS is fighting against Bashal Al Assad's government, so why would the Syrian regime fund them?!

now thats a list of fingerpointing..  it seems if one is in the middle east and has an enemy, that enemy is funding ISIS...

Religion is the scourge of the earth.

90% of the time it causes suffering. It might sound bad but if people stopped preying for each other as much and actually helped all of these countries would not be in such a mess. Also these countries need to help themselves instead of screaming for help from more powerful nations then screaming bullies afterwards.

Harsh but true.

Prayers don't help people, actions do.

But the prayers can galvanize us into action, with the (at times) unseen hand of God, moving people to do things outside of what they find comfortable. I'll continue to pray for those in Iraq, and the whole of the Middle East. It's a very unstable region, and only God can change their hearts now.

What Serious_frusting said is in no way true. Ludicrous, and in a way, sad, but not true.

Fine whilst you continue preying innocent men and woman are dying. It does not make you a good person being religious. Being a good person makes you a good person. The people dying are the people in the army and in the affected nations. Tell all the children who have lost pairents that you did your part by preying and listen to what they have to say about it.

Religion was/is just another form of government. I aint going to prey to david cameron.

There's a lot of crap that comes out of governments mouths, I wouldn't go too deep into that graph.

That said, even though ISIS is fighting against the Syrian government (or more specifically the ideas of Bashar Al Assad) that doesn't mean there might be some individuals inside the Syrian government who are indeed cooperating with ISIS, and thus the "ISIS is funded by the Syrian Regime" is very possible.

Most Middle East countries are very unstable, a big dog from the government selling stuff to ISIS is not really hard to believe.

exactly, the problem with religion is not spirituality itself, it is the social norms that are either described in or derivated from the book

and ultimately it replaces the natural values when zealotry is rewarded (paradise) and rebellion is punished (hell) to the extent that you have to "help" your fellow men, and especially the women, to follow the proper rules and correct their behavior and beliefs.

I think James says it best in chapter 2.

"14 What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? 15 Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, 16 and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?

17 So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless."

James 2:14-17

I will pray for their safety. As a christian myself this pains me a lot, I cannot even imagine how terrible this is.
I will pray first that the Iraq christians keep their faith, even in face of death. And also for their security.
This martyrs that died yesterday are champions of Jesus Christ and shall feast with the Lord in Heaven.

Well, according to some Iraq always has been a f**ked up place, so no harm in f**king it up some more. Therefore "nobody cares" attitude should not be suprising.

US foreign policy in one pic:

BTW a thread of mine on the topic.

Syrian rebels/terrorists, supported by USA was killing syrian christians also.Nobody cared about it except of Russia...

Also - the hell broken out in Iraq the day when Americans put their troops there and couldn't kepp the occuied territory in peace.

I wouldn't say religion is the cause for any of this (Besides Satanism, probably). If the leaders had any good (Moral) religion (Assuming they even have one) I'd be better for everyone.

So, Saddam doesn't seem that bad anymore.
Nice going, USA, for directly and indirectly killing hundreds of thousands of innocents.
Maybe one day they will learn, unfortunatelly, there will be many more Vietnams, Cambodias, Lybias and Iraqs before they do.
