These results are intresting to say the least, its not exactly formal or blind because I counted my own participation as well, but I tried to keep my participation in each thread equal.

Derailing occured in every thread but it was typically about the PS4 despite the fact that each console respective to their sections were the only ones mentioned directly in the OP. The exception was the XB1 thread. I used the term nearest competitor to describe the XB1/PS4, which came out within a week of the console, and cheapest competitor to describe the WIi U, even though the PS4 was cheaper at the time. Specifically, the PS4 thread was derailed into a comparison of the PS4 to the competition, the XB1 thread was slightly derailed into a discussion about spelling, and the WIi U thread was derailed into a discussion about the PS4 sales.

I entered the Wii U thread when it was posted, and before anyone else commented. I thought it was on point and agreed, but didn't post any comments. I didn't enter the other two threads, but often threads get derailed into anything but what it was meant to discuss.

I guess I am not surprised at all at the outcome.

Yeah, that is why I'm not jumping the gun and making any kind of conjecture from this, I'm just providing the results of my experiment. The Wii U had the most views, and views outnumbered posts by 764% on the least viewed thread compared to the most posts in any single thread. However it is slightly indicative, of what people choose to remember which is the main point of these 4 threads.

My conclusion? VG Chartz is a fucked up place.

Interesting social study.

But this thread should really be derailed by how much the PS4 is beating the competition.
