So lets discuss about universal apps. A great thing for developer or a failed tactic. Will windows Phone and windows able to get more developers.

It’s been a fairly long time since Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 made their debut, but they have yet to capture a decent marketshare. This is not because of the Operating System (OS) being bad or lack of devices, rather the slow adoption rate is caused by the ‘app gap’. This tag has plagued the mobile and tablet Windows OSs since their launch and Microsoft has tried various tactics to get rid of it such as providing initiatives to developers, partnering with various publishers and the latest scheme called ‘Universal Apps’. These schemes are a more of a developer thing and generally go unnoticed by the consumers. The latest trump card played by Microsoft is ‘Universal Apps’ and it feels like a step in right direction.

Around the Network

Definitely a step in the right direction, but I think Windows 9 is needed to provide the necessary boost. Windows 8 didn't connect with the general consumer and even though 8.1 has alleviated some of the main complaints about the OS, people still aren't convinced. (personally, I like W8 and have been using it since the beta)

This is the way they have to go, and they must include X1 for it to explode on the app side of things. I think W9 will make that leap and it will be a gamechanger. I personally like W8 more than MS´s other OS´s, but I also know I´m in the minority :).

More apps on Windows Phone will take time. Its already got all the big one's though.
Universal apps is a good idea but I don't think it will increase the amount of apps significantly.
