I'm 100% sure none of any official approved site are allowed to pre-order china version Xbox One games yet

And before talking about "reality",do you even know BF4 and Ryse are not approved in China?

I like you xD  Glad that we have someone who lives in China on this site like you to give us a little insight to whats going on :)

@Op - As for being region locked, its not shocking giving China's restrictions.  Im just glad so many games are getting the greenlight like Halo, Assassin's Creed, Destiny, Watchdogs, Killer Instinct etc  THat so far has been the best news out of the China launch in my opinion.

Is BF4 china approved!?!

No its not.  Tamron has been listing unofficial releases for whatever reason while D-Joe has been giving official information to legit releases and prices.

Watchdogs, Killer Inctinst, Destiny, Assassin's Creed etc all have the greenlight though.  Because BF4 has chinese soldiers it was banned.

what is the difference between "region locked" and "totally region locked" ?

totally speaking

I would say "region locked" means something like "only in PAL regions" so that it would as example run on a German and French but not an American console and "totally region locked" means probably that it works only in one specific country.

So moving back to the point here.

On average, HK versions will "officially" be 3-6$ less than US prices, *1 and may or may not be region locked
On average, HK versions will "officially" be 5-15$ less than US RRP *2

On average, CN versions will "officially" be 5-10$ less than US prices, but be region locked
On average, CN versions will "officially" be 5-20$ less than US RRP *2

However, "officially" does not in any way garuntee that they will retain that pricing, and there is nothing stopping stores from increasing the prices.

*1 No solid confirmation given to state yes or no, however so long as the hardware and software are not bound by the same laws as mainland china around requirements to sell, it should be region free, we'll find out for sure soon enough
*2 US RRP remains artificially high on major chain stores such as bestbuy and gamestop, but most online only retailers offer the same titles with up to a $5-$25 discount)

There is also nothing stopping them from selling it for a cheaper price as the official price will be when the console finally releases in China. You arguments over half of the thread  are based on prices people have to pay right now which has obviously nothing to do with the official release of the console  and theoretical prices which could happen if stores would sell games higher as the official price is even if a lower official price as in USA will probably also mean that Chinese stores have to pay less for these games as stores in USA/Europe have to pay.

The only fact we have right now is that official prices in countries like USA are 60 bucks for the "big games" and that the official price of games in China will be between 15-40 bucks (I would guess lower than 40 probably only for smaller games from Chinese companies). This has nothing to do with a one year old Forza which you always used in your arguments because Microsoft said that 40 will be the maximum official price for all games in China (but not HK).

You may be right and we will see it when the console finally releases officially and it will be also interesting to see how game prices of new games in 2015 will be but right now you argue as if you would already know everything even if at least the official price differences speak against it.

Its not that big of deal. The games on the 360 were region locked as well.

True, but as part of their 180 they got rid of region locking. So it's disappointing to see it come back, even if it is just for 1 country.

Yeah but Chinese games are used to lots of restrictions

I have been listing grey market retail because from the launch of the console in the US, that's been the primary (and only) market.
I've made it clear, multiple times that I have been listing grey market retail.

The pricing of these grey market games is relevant because it's a market that will persist even after local availability is provided, not all games will be allowed a local release and some that are may face censorship, likewise the gamers that already bought grey market consoles are highly likely to continue to buy the imported games.

I can buy illegal drugs in America if i wanted to.  Its a little harder to get a hold of, the general public dont know how to get a hold of it as easily, no advertisements  just word of mouth, and its more expensive because of these reasons.  Doesnt make it practical or even accessible as going into a popular store with ads on the wall with better prices.  Truth is, if you want something bad enough and youre knowledgable on the subject you can get about anything you want to.  Youre essentially cutting off the general public due to rarity, unawareness, price, as well as many other things but you can get something if you want it bad enough.

*Note* I  dont do drugs, its just a point.  And when you have been told with proof over and over again what the official prices are yet you keep using grey market products that will have no effect coming September 23rd maybe you should just drop it.  Then you bring up the forza thing where people repeatedly tell you why you were wrong on that as well as Ryse and BF4 being banned.  Its like youre just arguing to make a point that nobody in here gets.

Now maybe, just maybe the Chinese launch wont be that good like you seem to want so much.  Nobody really knows how the general public is going to take it once this thing gets advertised and in popular stores with these prices.  According to BesTV and Microsoft they want it to gradually grow in the coming years but dont seem to expect it to sell millions out the gate.  So maybe it will do bad, maybe it will do ok, and maybe it will do good, we dont dont really know.

Are you genuinely comparing the availability of drugs in the US to the availability of games consoles in China?

Let your grudge go, man.

No grudge Lucidium.  Just saying.

PS. Drugs are widely available if you want them

i could be wrong but i dont think the games being sold in hong knog are the same games being sold when the console launches. like the forza 5 game listed is the normal one where the one ms has listed when talking about china in the recent press release is froza 5 game of the year edition. so that could be why you have a diff price and if ur listing grey market prices then of course there not going to match up as these would be the official prices
