Forums - Gaming - Third time is NOT the charm?

Arrogance, thats the cause. by the time every company was about to release their third console they had their heads so far up their asses that they started believing their own shit. they thought people would buy their console no matter what (sony actually said this). and they want to start dictating what happens in the market. and each in every time one of the competition comes along and knocks them down straight on their assses.

Pretty much this. It's across of a lot of industry that after the biggest success they get complacent and follow it up with a failure. Though good companies may rebound from this.

Then again. Usually after one's biggest success there only is the way down. A lot of failures are only failures in comparison to the huge success that preceded them and not to the actual state of the industry.

So is Ouya the worst competitor of MS or is the worst enemie of customers?

And Now being more serious, haven't MS pushed Valve off with Steam? And tham is not only that could make MS lose a lot of customers to Steam OS, but also generated Steam Console (when is the damn thing finally show up?).

Oh that is true, Microsoft have already made themselves more competition with Valve. I don't see Steam boxes doing much, but Steam OS is definitely a threat to Windows.

Yep... I don't even know how VGC or NPD will chart SteamBox. But if SteamOS take of then MS may be headed for a fight. That could greatly benefit Sony.

How would it benefit Sony?

Also GameBoy, GameBoy Color, and GameBoy Advance look at that. One thing is the Wii was Nintendo's 3rd attempt at a console with no 3rd party and it succeeded so I guess that kind of means something? I agree with this though

XBOX ONE/Wii U/3DS/PC

Thanks for all the great memories!

If MS decides to fight more on the Computer space it would probably make them focus less on the console side... and since OS is their core business I'm inclined to believe that fighting SteamOS would be taken more important than Sony.

If Microsoft had to focus more on Windows and games for it to compete with SteamOS then they wouldn't be able to focus on Xbox as much, meaning Sony would have an easier job competing with them at consoles.

Honestly I don't think MS would've had to compete in terms of games. Every dev that releases games on pc would be insane not to release on Windows. There is also the fact that Windows is more versatile than steam os so it only tales the sales they get from gamers. But I suppose if they would have to compete against steam then that would benefit Sony a bit.

It's more on people not needing to buy Windows to play most of the games.
