Then maybe tell us whats going on, instead of teasing us with it?

My guess is that The Last Guardian was too ambitious for the PS3 or that the PS3 was such a clusterfuck to code for and Team ICO wasn't well equipped to perform the task.

It is going to be a PS4 title now, no doubt. Wait for a re-announcement.

I hope youre right

When people wondered if it was cancelled before E3 this year (Thanks to stupid IGN article) Sony said it was still in production, but that they will show the title when they are ready.

It will show up eventually. I'm just as eager to play it as anyone and hate waiting, but I am sure the wait will be worth it.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Hopefully it will be at TGS this year.

Yep pretty much this... a game that could be launched fast, be gorgeous and fill the holes is a good approach, and of course we would love it being cheaper, but there is more reason to make it 50 than 30... And from what I heard WW HD is a fantastic improvement... TLOUR is being regarded good, and probably Halo MCC will be good as well... so they are very much worth remasters/remakes.

WWHD and MCC is not the same thing. One is a 10 year old SD game where they fixed the problems people had with it and the other has 4 games(one which is 10 years old)

They aint the same thing, but for each of the bases they are a needed game, that is all that is about it.

To be fair, releasing a game that isn't considered complete, or any good in its current state, would be pulling a Duke Nukem Forever, no? o.O Could be that Sony just knows NOT to pull a Duke Nukem Forever.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with that. I'm not even looking forward to it myself, I hopped aboard the Sony train before the whole Last Guardian thing even begaaan. xD Anyway, allow me to sum up, I believe, all the pertinent points spread across this thread into a SINGLE post for you, so that you can get all the points.

1) There is no 'port to PS4' button. To put it in VERY basic terms, the PS3 speaks a completely different language than the PS4; so moving a game to it, you need to translate it, from start to finish, into the new language, and there is no 'Automatic Translate' button. In layman's terms, it would be like trying to translate The Bible from Aramaic (very old language) into English... only you have no Google Translate. Just lots of old books, a pencil, and PLENTY of patience and painstaking work. In many ways, the Xbox 360 has an easier time of it, because their architecture was a lot easier to work with, a lot closer to the 'normal' design; which is why so many multiplats looked and functioned better on 360.

2) There IS demand for the game, not just from those who played it once and loved it, but from those who jumped ship from Xbox, or moved from Nintendo, basically folks who didn't OWN a PS3 and are interested in the title. I spent some time around a Playstation forum, back in the wake of E3 2013, when people were LIVID about the old policies (before they were reversed a week later.) Plenty of new people, a flood even, joining the forums from Xbox, or Nintendo, and more than a few mentioned 'Aw yeah, that Naughty Dog game looks awesome, I hope they eventually bring it over, cause I don't have a PS3.'

3) Sony CAN track who has, or hasn't played it, because of trophies. As game trophies are uploaded to the servers, Sony can literally see if you've played PS3 games, which ones you played, how far you got in each. So it's not hard for them to KNOW if there's the potential for demand. If they say 'x percent of people didn't own a PS3,' then they say it because the person's registered accounts had NO PS3 trophies on it, suggesting they never played a PS3 game.

4) So, we've established there's demand for it; we've established Sony KNOWS there's demand for it; which means that if it does sell well, (and suggestions are it's selling quite well,) then how is it they SHOULDN'T have made it? o.O

Ok, theres a big demand for The Last Guardian. Where is that game?

How does that have anything to do with that?

And I would bet that TLOUR will outsell The Last Guardian.

By the laws of mathematics if a next gen port is bad then the MCC must be 4 times as bad.

Sadly the internet doesn't math.

How? Wouldn't it divide the hate and only receive a 10th for each year or a quarter for 4 games? A fifth even, we get a ticket to the Ridley Scott Halo TV series thrown in.

Not sure how the laws apply negatively.

You seriously think the internet can handle fractions?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I wonder what will happen when ICO and SotC get announced for ps4 before TLG.

I wouldn't even mind playing a remake of ICO with the actual castle in the background instead of the low res backgrounds on ps3. And SotC was only 960x1080 30fps with distant objects popping in on ps3, still room for improvement. Bigger field of view option, photo mode, will keep me entertained again.

I'm already set on buying Journey again if there is no upgrade program. I already bought it twice, download and physical, but eh, I have up to 4 versions on my favorite movies as well.

Yeah, Ive been convinced of it having a reason to exist. Not that its needed though. The remaster doesnt really fix anything that was wrong with the PS3 version and the visual improvements are not that big. I just dont think it warrants a rerelease yet. If it came out on the PS5 or something, then maybe...

Um... what's the distinction between having a reason to exist, and being needed? o.O I mean, technically speaking, NO videogame is 'needed,' but if it makes the company that releases it money, AND has plenty people who are happy with the purchase, then it's more or less fulfilled its purpose. I could argue that this keeps the people that didn't have a PS3, but now own a PS4, need this so they won't have to ALSO buy a PS3 just to try it. The people who owned it before, and are buying it for the new system, are icing on the cake, and while you're right that they don't need it, they pretty clearly WANT it.

Nobody 'needs', what, a seventh (9th or 10th, counting the non-FPS ones?) Halo game at aaaaall, (Talking about Halo 5 here, not Halo MCC) or a 7th God of War game, but Microsoft makes money, Sony makes money, and there are plenty of people who will want it, and be happy they bought it, so boom, their existence is validated.

TL;DR: No videogame is needed. (...except maybe Half Life 3. T____T )

Not even God knows the answer to that one. But you're showing your color way too much there. ^_-

In what way? Sony is all about pleasing their fans after all, right?

Your crusade against Sony at some point needs to stop.

The game  (The Last Guardian) is in development. If there wasn't such strong interest in the game expressed by fans (and the media), it would have been cancelled by now along with many other projects. No one is calling Sony a saint, but you're going out of your way to make them seem like the greedy devil with zero proper evidence to back up your claims. Your lack of understanding of the ps4 architecture and the comparison with wars is simply impossible to defend.  If you don't understand a topic, stay out of it. I don't understand high end pc's, so I don't tell people how nvidia is greedy for not doing what I think it should.
