Japanese soldiers are the best, the team of exiles are amazing killing machines, the protagonist is a virtual superhero and genius tactician, the Mongol soldiers are weaklings who rely on numbers and trickery, etc. Not the somewhat realistic approach I was hoping to see. One of the tropes I hate the most is when five arrows kill five guys nearly simultaneously and then it shows the single bowman. Yeah, right, if you're going to pull bullshit like that, at least animate the bastard's godlike rapid-fire mode. That, and people calmly talking in normal voices while the chopping down enemies left and right. Nothing feels more fake.
One of those looks like you ... uh, interrupted something. |
With eastern style archery, it's possible to get a rate-of-fire that's close to that. 😸

I have no idea what game this is, but this is basically the perfect ad. Now I want to teach Mao to play with Japanese cards. I'll just draw naked pictures of cats on some of them hee hee hee...

For the poll question...I guess it depends what the show is going for, but I find 2-cour and multi-season work best for me. Sometimes I don't really get hooked on a show until 6 episodes in, and so only having 6 more after that is too cruel.
Otherwise, only real seasonal update is starting Attack on Titan season 3. Was a bit torn on it. Didn't like how it skipped Historia's backstory, and just relegated it to Eren briefly mentioning her talking about it. I'm guessing they did it this way so they could end the season premiere with Kenny massacring Levi's team, and hype him up more. Hopefully that means we get Historia's story later, she's a really great character, I'm just worried the anime will cut out a lot of exposition and focus on fight fight fights.
Also that opening is so weird and I don't get it. Attack on Titan openings have all been like instant classics, this one feels like it's from a completely different anime. Maybe I'll get used to it but I really miss the old group.
Otherwise, been watching more Sket Dance and getting back into Fairy Tail lately. Kinda feel like a young boom again. *punches fists together*

Kinda late to the summer stuff, after some internet problems, as if I need more issues to not watch anime consistently.
So at least I started one show, Shoujo Kageki Revue Starlight, is my everything already, the holy mother Utena would be proud of this show, talking giraffe included.

The game is Karuta. The speaker reads one poem from a collection of classic poems and the first one to touch the card with that poem printed on it wins the point. Well, it's more complicated with defending your own cards but that's basically it. The competitive version is really fast and kind of violent.

The cat ad has to do with the live action Chihayafuru movies, which are pretty amazing. Both the anime are the manga are fantastic. The anime is probably in my top 10. Chihayafuru is very popular in Japan and is credited with increasing the popularity of the sport itself. Chihaya herself is kind of like a cat, now that I think about it, with her limited attention span and the way she just falls asleep wherever.
Aren't most cats already naked ...

I've been looking through Funimation's YouTube channel, and they have many old series in their entirety for free. I usually watch Crunchyroll, Amazon Video, and Netflix... But I'm hooked with Funimation now.
Finished Samurai 7 recently, a pretty good action series. I remember watching an episode or two many years ago, but I didn't like it back then. I gave it another try, and I was pleasantly surprised. Storyline is cliche, but the setting is somewhat interesting and there's some nice character interactions and development. Ending was pretty cool too.
Harukana Receive - Emily (megane) is way hotter than Claire.

Though Kanata wins overall. She's just so cute.

I remember hearing someone talk about it before, the premise seemed pretty clever. What a funny idea for a sport...seems like a trivia game you play with friends. Is just the title of the poem written on the card, or the whole poem itself? Seems like they could just look at the first letters and win that way. Maybe there's a character with super eyes that can scan all cards at once, and the main girl wins despite being called a dunce.
Heh, I'm a poet and I didn't even know it.
