so ps4 is undertracked by about a million units for ema + south america?

There is a chance that Sony will announce a price drop in the near future. Should help bring down manufacturing costs enough so that selling the PS3 at $150 or whatever will still net Sony a hardware profit. And yeah, the PS3 has much better endurance than the 360.

OT: PS4 will probably hit 10 million right before or by the end of September. Destiny and the white PS4 bundle will really boost sales when it comes out.

September for sure(even without Destiny).

TLOU will put PS4 on 9-9.2 for sure and then driveclub and Gamescon will help too.

I don't think VGChatz is undertracking it by more than 200k and SCEE probably wouldn't a announce a 9.[something] million number.

Exactly.  Neither will the PS4.

The leader of this gen will be every bit as front loaded imo.  The world is a different place.  All 3 consoles will be officially available globally within the first 12 months.  That has NEVER happened before.

Legs of consoles will shrink as gens pass, not lengthen.  You only have to look at the Wii, 360 and PS3 as evidence.

PS3 had (read: is having) long legs.  Every Playstation has long legs.

the 360 has been out longer and has shown better legs... did you look at the graph.  The 360 sold almost 3m more in its year 8 than the Ps3 did.

 

one year more without next gen consoles to steal its thunder of course

except being out another year without next gen consoles looming/here is a big advantage.  Also all that I said about pricing is still true since 360 has been $200 for awhile.
