Before bashing Xbox One for graphics people should remember PS3's 1080p promise and Motorstorm and Killzone CGI graphics.

Video had nothing to do with graphics.

It had to do with companies making false claims so it applies.

can you briefly summaries? don't want to click obvious clickbait. it just rewards the sinners.

Lies the Xbox One was built on:

"We can't get rid of the DRM" -- removes DRM

"Television is central to the Xbox One experience" -- shuts down TV studio

"Kinect is mandatory" -- removes Kinect

Each time MS changes their tune, they're touted as "customer-centric" and aren't given enough criticism for lying in the first place.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I really like Jim Sterling because he gives no **** if what he says is agreeable or not. Even if what he says doesn't agree with your viewpoints, he supports his arguments with evidence and logic. The title is harsh, but at the same time, it paints the picture perfectly and Jim perfectly nails it in his latest Jimquisition.

Agreed which is why I never buy a Microsoft console

That is not being done in the video.

I find these harsh claims againt Xbox One wrong. Its a good machine. Consoles should focus on 60 fps gaming, new exciting IP and interesting multiplayer.

The video is making more harsh comments towards MS than the Xbox, he even says towards the end that the console is now more appealing to him, he just doesn't like how MS handled the whole ordeal with the removal of the DRM first and the Kinect now.

I don't think ms ever said tv was central to it at all.

He's not complaining about Microsoft reversing their original vision, he's upset about their constant lies. Saying you can't just turn off the always online, or that XBO will never come without Kinect. A lot of early adopters bought the XBO based on Microsoft's statements only for them to backpedal damn near everything they said.

Isn't that reversing their original vision though? I don't really how they can win either way...

MS: XBO will never come without Kinect

Gamers: STOP FORCING THAT POS ON US!!

MS: You can now buy the Xbox One without the Kinect

Gamers: OMG YOU LIARS!!

It all just seems really pointless to me...

Shit changes, I don't really see the big issue here they're changing to appeal to more consumers.

Have a person promise you things that will blow your mind.

They promise intensely, and you're inclined to believe them because they've established trust with previous work(360).

Give that person $500

Wait a year.

Have every promise turn out to be a dead faced lie.

Get no apology for being lied to.

You seem to mistake "having to forcefully remove their favorite features to save their sales" with "listening".

You can't tell me that MS did want to remove everything because they like their customers so much. You can't tell me that they're happy about the changes they were forced to make. That's not "listening". That's grudgingly bowing to the market.

Yea, that's what companies do, they "bow to the market" or they lose. I don't think any company is noble or anything like that.

I dont think its the listening to the market that Jim was complaining about.... it's more so the lack of any real empathy that MS has shown in removing these features and crapping on users.... i.e they are selling "we removed DRM because the people weren't ready"... rather than.. OMG what a draconian method...etc

Not that I think any company would turn around and say such a thing, but I think they've not been as forthright as they could have been.

he wants an apology for all the xbox 180's. its stupid, a company like microsoft (or sony, or samsung) would right a wrong, but they wont go out and say "hey, sorry for fucking you over". thats not ever gonna happen.

I don't disagree with any of his points really, and there'd be no point in doing so because they are all subjective, but it seems really petty and bitter to acknowledge it's a good thing they changed them but also whining that you will basically never forget or forgive them for those things. They thought the market would respond one way to this element or the other and it responded another way. Does a company need to apologize for that? Bizarre.

I couldn't imagine contemplating a console purchase but then thinking back to things I disagreed with about the console and even though they'd been changed for the betterment of my personal preferences, still having a negative connotation about it. Or, while apparently enjoying said console and thinking it's a good machine (as he apparently does), being so negative about it just because of what it used to be. Seems to be a shitty way to live life.
