He's not complaining about Microsoft reversing their original vision, he's upset about their constant lies. It all just seems really pointless to me...

Shit changes, I don't really see the big issue here they're changing to appeal to more consumers. 

Have a person promise you things that will blow your mind.  

They promise intensely, and you're inclined to believe them because they've established trust with previous work(360).

Give that person $500

Wait a year.  

Have every promise turn out to be a dead faced lie.

Get no apology for being lied to.
