Forums - Nintendo - Do people honestly think that Hyrule Warriors will do well? Like at all?

I honestly don't know how well this game will sell, but I would be surprised at it selling under a million LTD, with the exposure it's been getting. That being said, we always have a few certain posters in threads about this game, so I'm gonna throw this out there.

I've never played a Dynasty Warriors game, nor any other game in the genre. I didn't care about the low reviews, I just don't have unlimited time for video games, so I choose the ones that interest me the most. The franchise always seemed interesting to me, but nothing about it ever screamed "I need this game".

On the other hand...I love the Zelda series. Ocarina of Time was literally the game that got me into video games, and I've played every game in the franchise since. I love the setting, I love the lore, I love the characters. And based on what I've seen right now, Hyrule Warriors seems to be incorporating all of the above. Of course I love the gameplay and story as well, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy other aspects of the series.

Does it make me a hypocrite for not buying games this title was based on? I don't see why, when the aspects that interest me weren't present in those titles. The same goes for anyone who chooses to buy One Piece or Gundam type musou games. Why should it be a prerequisite to play a game in a setting I don't care about to play a game in a setting I do? This logic is beyond baffling. Heck, if I like the style enough, I might care enough to play one of the games this was based on. It certainly worked with Pokemon: Conquest, a fantastic game that got me to try out Nobunaga's Ambition.

Anyways, this game could very easily get poor reviews, which from what I hear, seems to be par for the course for the genre...or it could come to light that it's poorly made. From what I've seen so far though, it's bringing characters and lore from a game I love into a genre that seems interesting to me. It's just beyond annoying how a certain few posters who have no interest in this game are constantly playing this game into a lose-lose situation, where it either has to flop or prove some ridiculous stereotype about an entire gaming fandom.

I'm looking forward to this game. I don't care what it's based on. I don't care that it's from a genre I have little experience with. I especially don't care what a certain few posters are trying to turn any potential sale for this game into. I do care about the franchise I love, and the characters and setting I enjoy. And at the end of the day, just as some fans don't mind buying a year-old 1080p remaster, I don't mind buying this "crappy reskin". ;)

I think it will sell around 800 000, mainly because of the Zelda IP. People here underestimate how nobody care about a massive combat game like Dynasty warrior in the West.

I think a lot of it is that people in the West don't even know what Dynasty Warriors is based on. I don't know anyone else who can even name one of the kingdoms involved.

I know a sh*tload of people who can tell me about Zelda though.

Well you don't know me but I know ALL of the kingdoms involved in the Dynasty Warriors series along with the Samurai Heors series....they are some of my favorite guilty pleasures lol.

Its a Mousou game with Link, if it didnt had Link in it the game would review on the 6.0 range and nobody would even remeber it exists, since it has Link in it it automatically gets at least a 9 from reviewers and ppl will buy the game.

To be fair...

I think Link is the least deciding factor here.

Online bets mean nothing if you're going to win anyway, which means you're not completely sure of yourself.

What do I gain from making you delete your account? Nothing. I don't need to embarass you to justify my point. Online bets are immature.

You gain by showing the confidence you have in your views. But that's too late now, as you've already declined the offer. You aren't confident enough to agree, and not just to this bet, but to any and all of your views. (As you're essentially admitting you wouldn't take any bet.)

You aren't uncaring about embarassing me to justify your point, you're afraid of embarassing yourself and being wrong. You can't spin the lack of acceptance to my proposal besides the obvious - Even if it's an inkling of doubt, it's still there.

I couldn't care less about even losing about the bet or being wrong, because I'm hardly on VGchartz to begin with. My point was to test your confidence, and now everyone knows the truth.

I think it will do fairly well. I'm going to buy it. I don't know how well but hope it gets to 500K at least.

^^Haha love this.^^

Of course not. This is one of the many travesti and milking of franchise Nintendo has, or rather, wrongly chose to do.

It's too bad when they have so many other franchise up their sleeve that they could bring like F-Zero.
