I was wondering if anybody else has noticed this, In the last couple quarterly shipments the OG 3DS numbers were very small compared to the XL & 2DS and I havent actually seen them in any stores in a few months which inculdes various retailers in Southern California and Norhern Illinois.

My theory is that they have a new revision releasing soon and are ending the OG model. They announced recently an NFC adapter that will be compatible with Amiibo's, I think this revision will include that functionality built-in and include the aesthetic improvements that the XL introduced.

Well, isn't the original model kind of pointless now? The XL is superior and the 2DS is cheaper. There really isn't much of a need for the first model imo.

agreed, what ddo u think of a new revision?

I don't know if it's needed or not but I'd welcome one. It's not going to happen, but I think it'd be cool if they threw a small 8GB HDD inside, put another analog (circle?) on it, improved the external speakers and reduced the weight. I'd retain the XL size though because I think it just makes for a better experience. I've been playing their handhelds since the late 80's and this is the first time I've been comlpetely satisfied with the size of the screen.

What's an OG 3DS?

The original model of the 3DS(and any of it's colors).  The XL is the bigger one and the 2DS is the one screen - no 3D one.

Why call it OG 3DS?

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

OriGianal 3DS

Alternatively - Original Gangsta 3DS

It's so folks will know what model someone is refering to.  The first model of any product is refered  to as OG, unless the newer model(s) are named completely differently.

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

There's definitely going to be at least one revision before the successor to the 3DS is released, so it makes sense they would phase out the original model.

Well the difference between the 3DS and XL is 30$ and if u want te best system u will go with the XL, but i u want a cheap one, you will choose the 2DS.

For those who have the OG 3ds, you must upgrade. I did after the 3DS Xl was released with 3 months and. It is way way better.
