I'm pretty sure this massive layoff isn't to prevent them from going bankrupy... and I haven't listed the 18k cut because that have nothing to do with Xbox... I linked the 75% cut in EUMEA Xbox.. and seing Og Xbox MS isn't to sleep and let money be lost.

Well Microsoft have a hard time in europe. The marketing team is inefficient there (I'm not talking about employee skills). maybe Microsoft have come to the conclusion that keeping all of them or only a small percentage is not what is going to be changing the situation over there so they've cut out the fat.

I'm aware of that... I just don't like the spin to call 75% reduction on the manpower a matter of enhancing efficiency.

89 thousand... so they are going to be like 71k strong... that is like 20% downsizing... it is massive.

No, its 127k employees as of March 2014. So now its gonna be 109k.

This and in the end its a 10% uprising not 20% downsizing (If we compare ms pre and post Nokia purchase)

It is expected when you buy a big company to have more employees not less -..-

I think what happened is that Steve Ballmer wanted to make Microsoft go one way and the new CEO wants to make it go a different (and I think better) way. So to make MS go a different way, they are probably firing all these people cause they have no use for them and most likely, they will be hiring new people instead... Windows 8 and Server 2012 along with Kinect, Always Online DRM (plan) big focus on TV and Purchase of Nokia mobile proved that MS dun goofed somewhere along the line and I think this is one of the first steps to bring them back to what made them great in the first place

And I really do think the new CEO knows what hes doing and All that nonsense is the past was Steve ballmer and Don Matrick being on crack with too much power

yes and it is exatly what is happening. they will end up with 14k more employees. but you know company like that are not bought because of there employees  but primarly for their patents, assets and existing consumer base.

Yep, even if you bought google you would still fire a lot because of overlapping and whatnot... but that is why I wasn't even discussing the 18k layoff (that sure would be demonized by some users if Sony done) just the downsize of EUMEA Xbox (and I agree with the reason to do so, just disagree with the useless spin... and the worst is that he is basically saying that 75% of his workforce is useless).
