Forums - Gaming - Square Enix sends cease and desist letter to FF Type 0 PSP translation group

http://www.skybladecloud.net/type-0-translation-patch-unavailable/

You know I normally use blog posts for relevant information only, such as project announcements or releases. However, I’m sorry this time it’ll be a little bit different:

Unfortunately I’m forced to remove my posts and pages related to the popular Final Fantasy Type-0 fan translation project. That’s right, certain game company thinks that threats and false accusations are the way to treat its biggest fans. For the time being I can’t answer questions related to this matter, but I’ll write a more comprehensive post about all this once I get the chance.

I hope you understand, and as always I appreciate your support (that I might need more that ever in the near future). Thank you very much:

~Sky

Can see why SE want them to stop IF they are releasing it in the west on the Vita or something. Threats and accusations are not the way to go about it though.

Not on the Vita. They will be releasing it in the west on the PS4 and Xbox One though.

Ok, then I can understand it. Should still go about it in a nicer way though

Nope. Sorry Square Enix, I want to play it on a handheld.

Wouldn't have needed to have a translation project if SE listened to their fanbase over the last 3 or so years about Type-0. Heck, they even had a post in their own forums asking fans what they wanted and it was always a large amount asking for Type-0.

Maybe they should try to do their fans a solid once in a while.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Unsurprising. As annoying as this may be for those fans working on the translation they must realise it is a threat to potential sales for Type-0 HD on PS4 and XBO. Square Enix is a company after all, they own the copyright and will want to make as much profit as possible off of this.

Sony have this great thing they call remote play, it allows you to play PS4 games on your Vita 😁

The downside is that SONY think that's enough and won't make any more great Vita games 😢

Annoying, but I can see where SE is coming from. The translation would probably just cannibalize on actual game sales

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

Didn't this release like a month or two ago. This is far too little too late. Even if they complain to Google about DMCA to get the search results of the torrent removed that doesn't help if they use the search on the torrent site itself and not Google. Hell waiting until after the fact I really must wonder if they care at all about protecting their intellectual property.

I wondered when SE will finally notice it.
This was way too public.
