Sony "bought" second place? lol.... I guess I have really heard it all.

Sony lost billions doing massive price cuts to the PS3 year after year.

Had they not been willing to do that, the PS3 would have sold significantly less. Simple as that.

It odd that people ignore this. People only care about MS's financial failures.

You serious???

Its called competition. The whole point of consoles is to sell games. You make more money if you have more consoles out there for people to buy games for. Sony being willing to drop their price was the best thing they did. And contrary to what you may think, sonys PS division bled money for 2 years. from 2009 it was right back to being profitable again.

But are you really saying everyone that slash prices to improve sales is doing something wrong? You realize that being cheaper doesn't mean you will automatically sell more right? Just look at the orginal XB. And now the XB1. Funny, this is like you saying if a company invests more in marketing so its product sells better and it works, then it only worked cause the spent money on marketing. DUH!!!! Thats the whole POINT!

No, Xbox brand is dead in Europe and Japan.Xbox is winding down operations in Europe, talk of selling off "non core" divisions etc.MS are obviously not happy with the performance of XB1.

PSP and PS2 help hide how much of financial disaster PS3 was and it surely didn't recover those losses.

Sacrificing billions might have been good for Playstation brand, but it certianly didn't help Sony's financial situation. The shrinking game console industry isn't helping Playstion either. They already lost their relvance in handheld gaming.

Dead in Europe? Wishful thinking.

Japan doesn't really matter. Xbox 360 was a great success without Japan.

It should also be noted Sony is struggling in Japan. They aren't buying enough Vitas or PS4s.

could you all get back on topic instead of nit picking and getting all insecure, also if you are going to post nonsense about a firms financial situation it would be very nice for you to include links showing evidence to this rather than expecting people to take your word for it.

i have already stated what i think in previous comments in relation to this thread so again get back on topic.

Only if Sony seriously fucks up. Alot of Xbox 360 owners had PS2s and couldn't afford the PS3.

Nope, too late, they didn't lose the 7th generation though

Several things wrong here:

- The post contradicts itself

- They did lose the 7th generation

Nobody won or lost the 7th generation. Wii sold lots of console but made less money and destroyed their image. PS3 and X360 sold about the same number of consoles and games.

However no, neither Xbox, Xbox 360 or the Xbox One will have won any generation.

I doubt Sony will ever screw up 7th gen big again so I doubt Sony would ever lose again.

Ninty is never out the picture, its doubt MS WILL EVER WIN a gen.

If VGC saying that the X1 being outsold by the PS3 in Europe has a sliver of truth, then yeah, I say the brand is dead in Europe. A current gen console should NOT get outsold by a previous gen console in an entire continent.

Dead in europe was probably an exageration on his part, but his argument has grounds. PS4 is currently outselling the XO almost 3:1 weekly in europe. I personally don't hink that is a big deal yet, but what is troubling is that 2-3 months ago it was only like 2:1. Meaning its getting worse.
